Gujarat Titans Players and Staff Evacuated from Team Bus After Mid-Road Breakdown

Gujarat titans Team Bus After Mid-Road Breakdown

The Gujarat Titans faced a safety scare following their IPL final defeat, as the team bus broke down due to a short circuit while transporting players and support staff back to their hotel in Ahmedabad.

All team members remained safe and unhurt despite smoke spreading inside the vehicle. They waited on the road for a short while before another bus was arranged to take them to their destination.

The incident compounded a difficult night for the Titans, who had earlier lost the IPL 2026 final to Royal Challengers Bengaluru by five wickets on Sunday, May 31.

The breakdown also added to the franchise’s challenging travel schedule. Gujarat had travelled from Dharamsala to Mullanpur on May 27 to play the Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan Royals on May 29. Their scheduled departure to Ahmedabad on May 30 was delayed significantly due to inclement weather in Mullanpur, causing them to reach their home base late on Saturday evening.

When asked whether fatigue contributed to the team’s performance in the final, Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki dismissed that notion. He stated that he did not want to take away from RCB’s victory by blaming the packed schedule. Solanki acknowledged that the total of 155 for 8 was below par but praised the team’s fight in trying to defend it. He added that the team would assess what they could have done differently while accepting that the opposition played well.
