CSK and RCB Bring in New Bowlers After Injuries to Khaleel and Thushara

Kuldip Yadav & Richard Gleeson

Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru have both signed new players as injury replacements for the ongoing IPL season.

CSK have brought in Kuldip Yadav to replace left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed. Khaleel got hurt during a match against Kolkata Knight Riders in mid-April. He could not even bowl the last ball of his spell that day.

Kuldip is a 29-year-old medium pacer. He has played for Rajasthan Royals in the past, featuring in three games across the 2021 and 2023 seasons. Those are the only T20 matches he has played so far in his career. CSK have signed him for a fee of ₹30 lakh.

Khaleel played five games for CSK this season and picked up two wickets. CSK have faced many injury problems this year, with Jamie Overton being the latest player to get sidelined.

RCB have signed England seamer Richard Gleeson to replace Nuwan Thushara. Thushara played only one game for RCB last year and did not feature in any match this season before getting injured.

Gleeson, who is 38 years old, made his England debut in 2022. He has played six T20Is for England and taken nine wickets. Overall, he has picked up 170 wickets in 145 T20 matches.

This is not Gleeson’s first time in the IPL. In 2024, he played for CSK and took one wicket in two games. Last year, he was with Mumbai Indians and picked one wicket in his only appearance. RCB have signed him for ₹1.6 crore.

Both new players will hope to make an impact for their teams as the tournament moves ahead.
