UP Warriorz Sign England’s Amy Jones as Replacement for Injured Phoebe Litchfield
The UP Warriorz have moved swiftly to fill the void left by the injured Phoebe Litchfield, roping in England wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones as her replacement for the remainder of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 season.
Litchfield, who was one of UPW’s most consistent performers this season, has been ruled out after scoring 243 runs in six matches. Her absence is a significant setback for the franchise as the league enters its crucial final phase.
Jones, though new to the WPL, brings a wealth of international experience, having played 125 T20Is for England and scored 1,666 runs in the format. She joins the Warriorz for a fee of INR 50 lakh and is expected to add depth and flexibility to both the batting lineup and wicketkeeping department.
Currently placed at the bottom of the points table with just four points from six games, UP Warriorz must win both their remaining matches—against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (January 29) and Delhi Capitals (February 1)—to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
