Deepti Sharma, Healy, Wolvaardt Headline Marquee List for WPL 2026 Auction
The stage is set for a high-stakes bidding war as the list of players for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction has been finalized, with Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma and Australian stalwarts Alyssa Healy and Laura Wolvaardt headlining the prestigious Marquee set.
The auction, scheduled for November 27 in New Delhi, will see a total of 277 players go under the hammer, divided into 39 sets. The marquee group features eight of the world’s biggest names, including England’s Sophie Ecclestone, New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr, and Australia’s Meg Lanning, all with a base price of ₹50 Lakh.
The release of these stars, particularly World Cup standouts Wolvaardt and Deepti, has set the stage for a dramatic reshuffle of team rosters. They are joined in the marquee category by India’s pace spearhead Renuka Singh (base price ₹40 Lakh) and South Africa’s prolific batter Laura Wolvaardt (₹30 Lakh).
A significant 19 players have listed themselves at the highest reserve price of ₹50 Lakh. This group includes young talents like Australia’s Phoebe Litchfield and India’s Harleen Deol, alongside established names like all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar.
With 73 open slots to fill across the five franchises, 23 of which can be overseas players, the teams have their work cut out for them. The UP Warriorz, having retained only Shweta Sehrawat, enter the auction with the largest purse of ₹14.5 crore and a significant advantage of four Right-to-Match (RTM) cards. Defending champions Mumbai Indians (₹5.75 crore) and last year’s finalists Delhi Capitals (₹5.7 crore) have comparatively smaller budgets.
The player pool is dominated by Indian talent, with 194 names, followed by strong contingents from Australia (23) and England (22), promising a fiercely competitive event that will shape the landscape of the upcoming WPL season.
