Mohammed Shami is one of India’s finest fast bowlers, known for his ability to swing the ball with both the new ball and the old one. Born in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, the 35-year-old right-arm fast bowler has become India’s go-to man in big tournaments, especially World Cups. His 2023 ODI World Cup performance, where he took 24 wickets in just seven games, is still remembered as one of the best bowling displays ever. Shami has also been a consistent wicket-taker in Test cricket, with over ten wickets in a series ten times in his first dozen years. Injuries have troubled him often, including a long break after the 2023 World Cup due to an Achilles problem. But every time he comes back, he finds a way to deliver for his country. He plays domestic cricket for Bengal and has been a key bowler in the IPL for several teams, including Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings, and most recently Lucknow Super Giants.
