JioHotstar Secures Digital Rights for India-England Test Series 2025
In a major boost for cricket fans, JioHotstar has clinched the exclusive digital streaming rights for the highly anticipated India-England Test series, set to commence on June 20, 2025, at Leeds. Media reports confirm that JioHotstar finalized a deal with Sony Entertainment Network (Culver Max Entertainment Private Limited) to stream the five-Test series, marking a significant collaboration in sports broadcasting.
The agreement, sealed within the last 24 hours after a month of negotiations, allows JioHotstar to stream the marquee series, which includes matches in Birmingham (July 2), Lord’s (July 10), Manchester (July 23), and the Oval (July 31). Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) retains the linear broadcast rights, ensuring the series will also air on the Sony Sports network.
This partnership extends beyond the Test series. JioHotstar will also stream India’s 2026 white-ball tour of England, featuring three ODIs and five T20Is. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), which signed an eight-year broadcast deal with Sony through 2031, played a pivotal role in facilitating this sub-licensing arrangement.
JioHotstar and SPNI officially confirmed the collaboration on May 27, 2025, emphasizing their commitment to delivering seamless access to cricket fans across digital and TV platforms. Sanjog Gupta, CEO of Sports and Live Experiences at JioStar, stated, “This collaboration is a win-win for all stakeholders involved – especially Indian Cricket fans – and serves the broader sporting landscape. The combination of JioHotstar’s deep digital footprint with SPNI’s broadcast network will universalize access to India’s tours of England.”
Gaurav Banerjee, MD and CEO of SPNI, added, “We are thrilled to bring this fantastic partnership to cricket fans for India’s tour to England! Backed by the power of the Sony TV network and the digital prowess of JioStar, this first-of-its-kind partnership will hope to redefine cricket coverage.”
With JioHotstar’s immersive digital platform and Sony’s robust TV network, fans can expect an inclusive, interactive, and high-quality viewing experience for one of cricket’s most storied rivalries. An official announcement is expected later today, May 27, 2025, solidifying this landmark deal.
Stay tuned for more updates as the India-England series approaches, promising thrilling cricket action for fans across India and beyond!
