Dubai, March 4, 2025 – The Indian side has once again proved its sheer dominance by securing a place in the 2025 Champions Trophy final defeating Australia in a thrilling semi-final game. Australia’s Batted First: Smith and Carey Anchor the Innings
Australia had won the toss and posted 264 runs on the board, the highest total of the tournament in the Dubai ground. With dangerous Travis Head departing early captain Steve Smith led from the front and scored 73 off 96 balls. Wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey played a crucial knock of 61 off 57 balls. This partnership stabilized Australia’s early setbacks and helped them getting the par score.
Mohammed Shami was the most successful bowler today with an impressive figure of 3/48. Indiana spinners also shined with Ravindra Jadeja and Varun Chakravarthy choking the Aussie middle order, picking up two wickets each.
India’s Chase: The Kohli Show
Chasing a massive total of 265, India had a shaky start, losing early wickets of Rohit Sharma and Shubham Gill. However, Virat being Virat proved why he is the backbone of Indian cricket, anchoring the innings with singles and doubles and scoring a brilliant 84 off 98 balls with just five boundaries in his knock. His ability of rotating strike and adapting to the pitch conditions kept India on track.
Consistent Shreyas Iyer supported Kohli with a steady knock of 45 runs in 62 deliveries. KL Rahul’s unbeaten 42 ensured that India remained composed even after losing Kohli’s wicket in the 43rd over. Kung-fu Pandya also played his role and helped India crossed the finish line with 11 balls to spare highlighting the depth of Indian batting side.

Eyes will be on the semi-final game between South Africa and New Zealand. India has already marched into the Champions Trophy 2025 final, awaiting the winner of this game. The grand finale is set for Sunday 9th March in Dubai, with India having a good chance of capitalising the pitch conditions.
