This injury leaves England’s bowling attack thin, as key bowlers Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer are already sidelined. Now, only Josh Tongue, Gus Atkinson, and Jamie Overton remain as pace options.
Woakes has been a key player throughout the series, bowling more overs than anyone else; 181 in total; and taking 11 wickets. The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed he will not return to play in this Test.
