Let’s be real—farming and crafting in Starsand Island are incredibly satisfying, but half the reason we sink hundreds of hours into life sims is for the romance. The developers at Seed Lab have clearly taken notes from the heavyweights of the genre, delivering a vibrant relationship system where NPCs actually remember your habits, reach out to you, and have rich backstories.
Whether you’re trying to win over the aloof surfer Delphin, charm the biker-gang-leader-turned-mechanic Neona, or just figure out why your Affection meter is stuck, you need a game plan. Romancing your favorite islander is a grind, but if you know the mechanics, you can speedrun your way to Heart Level 5.
Here is your cheat sheet to min-maxing relationships in Starsand Island.

The Romance Roster: Who Can You Date?
Starsand Island currently features 15 romanceable characters—eight bachelorettes and seven bachelors. The game does not gender-lock romance; your avatar can bond with any of these characters regardless of how you created them.
The Bachelorettes:
- Alex: The handy owner of Lex Woodworks.
- Lunelle: The wealthy, compassionate fashionista behind Ethereal Styles.
- Pastelle: The shy animal lover who serves as your Livestock Mentor.
- Neona: A former motorcycle gang leader who now runs G-Power Bikes.
- Serena: The polished Bloom Atelier salon owner with hidden design dreams.
- Solara: Your bubbly childhood best friend (she already has a massive crush on you).
- Stella: The pop-punk musician who runs the Woof and Wow Pets shop by day.
- Zerine: The timid gamer girl and General Store owner/Crafting Mentor.
The Bachelors:
- Aurelis: The serious, sophisticated culinary heir running Aureleaf Kitchen.
- Delphin: Your honest, direct childhood friend and Fishing Mentor.
- Graminova: The quiet, focused botanist and Farming Mentor.
- Loren: The easy-going gamer who manages the Chrono Arcade.
- Sylvain: The musical soul running Sylvan Notes.
- Zephyria: The adventurous Exploration Club President and Archery Mentor.
- Youfang: The elusive monk living in Bastrom Heights.
The Grind: How to Raise Affection Fast
To get to the endgame “Move In” phase, you need to grind Affection Points to level up your character’s Heart Levels. If you want to optimize your time, prioritize Profession Quests. Mentors like Delphin, Pastelle, and Zephyria are arguably the easiest characters to romance because completing their specific profession questlines drops a massive 50 Affection Points at a time.
Otherwise, you need to rely on the daily loop. Talk to your target every single day (+5 points), and give them a “Loved” gift (+15 points). Keep an eye on the Bulletin Board—if your romantic interest posts a high-difficulty request, fulfilling it can net you up to 30 points.
Warning: Do not give them items they dislike or hate. The game will penalize your Affection meter, setting your progress back.
Checking Your Status: The Social App
Don’t guess where you stand. While you can see a quick 5-heart display in the top left corner during dialogue, the best way to track your romance is through your in-game smartphone.
Open the Social App and click the ‘Details’ button under your crush’s portrait. The top box shows your exact Heart Level, how many Affection Points you currently have, and how many you need to hit the next tier. The bottom box contains the ‘Preferences’ tab—this is your holy grail. It logs every gift you’ve ever given that NPC, categorizing them by Love, Like, Dislike, and Hate. Use this to stop wasting inventory on bad gifts.
The Endgame: Marriage and Moving In
In Starsand Island, marriage is referred to as “Moving In.” To unlock this, you must grind a character to Heart Level 5.
However, hitting Level 5 doesn’t trigger an automatic moving-in cutscene. You have to actively ask them to move into your house (make sure you have the floor space!). Because you have to trigger the event manually, you can actually reach Heart Level 5 with multiple characters without penalty. If you want to play the field and see everyone’s Level 4 and 5 events before making your final choice, the game completely allows it.
Note: As of the current build, the monk Youfang is the only romanceable character who cannot be asked to move in. You can romance him, but he stays in Bastrom Heights.

FAQs
Q: Can I date multiple characters at once without them getting mad?
A: Yes. Unlike some life sims that punish you for pursuing a “harem route,” Starsand Island lets you max out Affection (Heart Level 5) with as many characters as you want. You are only locked in once you actually ask one of them to “Move In” with you.
Q: What is the absolute fastest way to get to Heart Level 5?
A: Target a Profession Mentor (like Delphin or Pastelle). You get +50 points for their profession quests. Combine that with daily talking (+5), a loved gift (+15), and a lucky Bulletin Board request (+30), and you can blast through their early Heart Levels in a fraction of the time it takes to romance standard NPCs like Solara or Aurelis.
Q: I hit Heart Level 3. Where is the chest I’m supposed to loot?
A: Once you reach 370 Affection Points (Level 3), you unlock the “Room Visit” perk. Walk into their private bedroom or living quarters and look for a stylized chest. It usually contains rare crafting materials or a high-tier item relevant to their profession!
