How to get Data Points in StarRupture

Data Points in StarRupture

Data Points are one of the most important resources in StarRupture. You need them to unlock recipes, access new stations, and progress with corporations. If you do not collect enough Data Points, your progress slows down very fast. The game does not clearly explain how to farm them, which makes many players waste time and resources.

How to Get Data Points in StarRupture

There are only a few reliable ways to earn Data Points in StarRupture. All usable Data Points come from items processed through the Analyzing Station. The value you get depends entirely on what you submit.

Using the Rupture to Farm Data Points

The Rupture is a planet-wide event in StarRupture that affects the entire planet. This event destroys the old map, alters the atmosphere, and generates unique resources. Moreover, it is a risky activity as the players might get killed if they are out at that time.

After the Rupture, minerals and meteorites scatter all over the map. One of these materials is Ignitium. Ignitium is not only a very good source of Data Points, but also very useful for the production of various items.

Five units of Ignitium are transformed into 2000 Data Points once put into the Analyzing Station. Looking for two distinct indications after a Rupture will help one gain Ignitium: a glowing orange light in the sky and smoke coming from the earth.

Ignitium has a short life span and it is rapidly broken down right after the Rupture. So, you have to grab as much as you can and hurry back to your camp before it vanishes. Once you get to your camp, put it in the Analyzing Station to get the Data Points.

Farming Data Points Without a Rupture

When Rupture is not functioning, you may still acquire Data Points through map exploration and enemy combat.

One way is to wipe out the Vermin. The latter will give up biological samples as their loot. Collect the samples and take them to Analyzing Station, and you will receive extra Data Points. This way of doing things is a bit slower and less dependable, though, since material drops by every enemy are not guaranteed.

Finding Broken Technology

The method that gives the biggest reward but is also the most challenging is the one that involves finding Broken Pieces of Technology. The broken technology items are located near Fallen Drones, Former Colonist bodies, and the claywood corporation survey sites that have been abandoned.

The broken tech items vary in quality. Depending on the analysis, they could give as low as 400 to as high as 2000 Data Points. Moreover, these items do not respawn, meaning you can only use each one once.

What Data Points Are Used For

Data Points perform a role of a currency for progression. Their main application is to unlock the recipes, craft the stations, and get new items. They are treated separately from building or combat materials, which makes careful spending very important, particularly in the early stages of the game.

Misallocation of Data Points to the less effective systems can cause a slowdown in long-term progression.

Data Points From Corporations and What to Avoid

You can earn Data Points through the Orbital Elevator, but these points go directly toward corporation progress. They cannot be used to unlock recipes or stations.

Because corporation progression can be automated later, it is better to save your personal Data Points for the Recipe Station instead of spending them on corporations early.

To earn Data Points in StarRupture, you must rely on the Analyzing Station. Ignitium found after a Rupture gives the highest return but disappears quickly.

Vermin drops and broken technology provide other options, with old technology offering high rewards that do not respawn. Managing how you earn and spend Data Points determines how fast you progress in the game.
