Genshin Impact 6.4 Stygian Onslaught Event Guide

Genshin Impact 6.4 Stygian Onslaught Event

Version 6.4 introduces a fresh cycle of Stygian Onslaught, one of the toughest endgame challenges currently available in Genshin Impact. This combat-focused mode revolves around a boss rush format where players must defeat three powerful enemies across consecutive battles, each with unique mechanics and strict time limits.

The current cycle runs from March 4 to April 7, 2026, bringing new enemy rotations and rewards. This guide explains how the mode works, recommended team setups, and the best approach to clearing higher difficulty levels efficiently.

How the Stygian Onslaught Event Works

It is a permanent combat event designed as a high-difficulty challenge mode, first introduced in Version 5.7. It functions similarly to the Spiral Abyss and Imaginarium Theater. The mode unlocks after reaching Adventure Rank 20 and completing the early Archon Quest.

This event is located in a special domain near Mingyun Village in Liyue. After entering the domain, players must defeat enemies across three separate battlefields within a limited time.

The mode features six difficulty levels:

1. Normal
2. Advancing
3. Hard
4. Menacing
5. Fearless
6. Dire

Lower difficulties allow repeated characters and co-op play. However, starting from Menacing difficulty, the mode introduces restrictions such as no repeated characters between teams and solo-only rewards.

The Dire difficulty is the ultimate challenge and must be cleared solo to obtain its exclusive rewards.

All Bosses in the Current Stygian Onslaught Cycle

The Version 6.4 cycle of Stygian Onslaught features three bosses that appear across different battlefields:

  • Hexadecatonic Mandragora
  • Knuckle Duckle
  • Secret Source Automaton: Overseer Device

Each boss has unique mechanics that must be countered with the correct elemental reactions and team setup.

This boss begins with extremely high elemental resistance. To weaken it, players must apply Pyro or Electro attacks to drain its energy gauge.

Once the gauge is depleted, the boss splits into multiple spores. These spores must be destroyed quickly before they regroup.

Characters with strong crowd control abilities perform best here. Anemo units like Venti or Sucrose can group the spores together, allowing teams to eliminate them quickly before the boss reforms with reduced resistance.

After the spores are cleared, players gain a short window to deal heavy damage.

Second Boss – Knuckle Duckle

Knuckle Duckle begins the fight with a shield and summons several mechanical devices that must be destroyed before the boss becomes vulnerable.

Electro-Charged reactions are particularly effective, as they deal increased damage to the devices.

Once the gadgets are destroyed, the boss becomes stunned for several seconds. This is the best opportunity to unleash Elemental Bursts and deal large amounts of damage.

Teams built around Electro and Hydro reactions generally perform well against it.

Third Boss – Secret Source Automaton: Overseer Device

The current final boss of Stygian Onslaught has one of the toughest mechanics in the event.

At the start of the fight, the automaton gains a large resistance buff and begins firing powerful laser attacks. Players must apply Cryo damage consistently to drain its energy gauge and remove the defensive buff.

Once the gauge is depleted, the boss enters a weakened state where its resistance drops significantly.

Cryo-focused teams featuring characters such as Skirk or other Cryo DPS units perform particularly well in this fight.

Rewards Available in the Current Cycle

Clearing different difficulty tiers provides a variety of rewards.

Players can obtain the following rewards:

  • Primogems from early difficulty clears
  • Hero’s Wit and Mora
  • Dust of Enlightenment, used for artifact substat rerolls
  • Artifact rewards through Resin spending
  • Limited weapon appearance skins from Dire difficulty

During the first ten days of each cycle, players can also obtain extra artifact rewards through a special burst period when claiming drops. This limited window is known as the Disturbance Outbreak period and is one of the most efficient times to farm artifacts through the mode.

The Version 6.4 cycle of Stygian Onslaught event introduces some of the toughest encounters yet, making preparation essential. By understanding boss mechanics, building specialized teams, and optimizing burst windows, players can clear higher difficulties much more consistently.
