Before you can begin the Final Retreat quest, you must first complete the Wandering Tale “A Tassel and a Tale.”
After finishing that quest, travel to Squarewall Hold in Jade Gate Pass and speak with Granny Pan near the ruins. During the conversation, you will receive the objective to recover three fragments of the broken retreat gong scattered throughout the ruins.
Step 1: Find the First Bronze Gong Fragment

The first fragment is located on the roof of a building south of the Squarewall Hold Ruins Boundary Stone.
Climb onto the roof of the structure and open the chest placed there. Inside you will find the first fragment needed for the quest.
If you notice enemies nearby, clear them first so you can search the rooftop without interruption.
Step 2: Find the Second Bronze Gong Fragment

The second fragment is located southwest of the first building.
Move toward a ruined house nearby. You will find the fragment placed near the corner of the collapsed structure, usually beside scattered pots or debris.
Pick it up to continue progressing through the Final Retreat quest.

Collecting this final piece completes the fragment search for the Final Retreat quest in Where Winds Meet.
Step 4: Return to Granny Pan and Young Yichao

After collecting all three fragments, return to Granny Pan and Young Yichao.
They will be waiting near a tower southwest of the ruins. Speak with them to progress the quest.
During the conversation, they will ask you to ring the retreat gong located at the top of the floating ruins above Squarewall Hold.
Step 5: Reach the Floating Ruins and Ring the Gong

The final step of the quest requires reaching the highest point of the ruins.
Use abilities such as Leap or Cloud Step to jump across the floating rocks and climb upward through the ruins.
Some sections of the route are difficult to see. When the wind blows sand across the ruins, it briefly reveals the invisible path that leads toward the top.
Follow this route carefully until you reach the retreat gong. Interact with it to ring the gong. A short cutscene will play, restoring Squarewall Hold and completing the Final Retreat quest in Where Winds Meet.
