Young Guns Mhatre, Suryavanshi Set to Shine on India U-19’s England Tour
India’s Under-19 cricket team is gearing up for an exciting tour of England in June-July 2025, with 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre at the helm. The Chennai Super Kings star, fresh off a stellar first-class debut for Mumbai, will captain a 16-member squad featuring 14-year-old Rajasthan Royals sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The tour promises a thrilling showcase of India’s next cricketing generation.
The itinerary includes a 50-over warm-up match on June 24 at Loughborough University, followed by a five-match Youth ODI series across Hove, Northampton, and Worcester from June 27 to July 7. The tour wraps up with two multi-day games in Beckenham (July 15) and Chelmsford (July 20). Mumbai’s Abhigyan Kundu, the squad’s wicketkeeper, will serve as vice-captain.

The squad boasts a mix of proven performers and rising stars. Punjab’s Vihaan Malhotra, Saurashtra’s Harvansh Pangalia, who scored a century against Australia U-19, and Bengal seamer Yudhajit Guha bring experience. Kerala leg spinner Mohamed Enaan, with 16 wickets in the Australia U-19 series, and Punjab offspinner Anmoljeet Singh, with nine, bolster the attack. Gujarat allrounder Khilan Patel, Cooch Behar Trophy’s Player of the Series, joins Maulyarajsinh Chavda, Rahul Kumar, RS Ambrish, Kanishk Chouhan, Henil Patel, Pranav Raghavendra, and Aditya Rana. Standby players include Naman Pushpak, D Deepesh, Vedant Trivedi, Vikalp Tiwari, and wicket keeper Alankrith Rapole.
Selected by the Thilak Naidu-led Junior Cricket Committee, this squad is eligible for the 2026 U-19 World Cup in Zimbabwe and Namibia. Following their 2024 Australia series and a runner-up finish at the U-19 Asia Cup, the team is primed to take on England U-19. With Mhatre’s leadership and Suryavanshi’s flair, India U-19 is ready to make a mark on England.
