West Indies Name Unchanged Squad for Home T20Is Against Australia Ahead of World Cup

West Indies Women's T20I Squad Against Australia

West Indies have retained faith in their 15-member squad, naming an unchanged group for the upcoming home T20I series against Australia, following their recent 2-0 loss to Sri Lanka.

Led by captain Hayley Matthews, the squad will face the world’s No. 1-ranked T20I side in a three-match series at the Arnos Vale Cricket Ground in Kingstown, starting March 19. The remaining fixtures are scheduled for March 21 and 23.

The squad blends experienced campaigners like Stafanie Taylor, Shemaine Campbelle, and Deandra Dottin with emerging teenage talents Eboni Brathwaite and Jahzara Claxton.

Head coach Shane Deitz emphasized the significance of the series as a crucial World Cup preparation. “It’s just before the World Cup, so it’s a great opportunity to see where we are in our preparation. Playing against the best team in the world, we can see where our deficiencies are and where things are working well.”

The teams will also play a three-match ODI series following the T20Is at Warner Park in St. Kitts and Nevis. A proposed Test match was dropped to allow both sides to prioritize white-ball cricket ahead of the T20 World Cup in the UK this June.
