Namibia Becomes 16th Team to Qualify for T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka
Namibia has officially booked its ticket to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, set to be hosted across India and Sri Lanka. The Eagles secured their spot by defeating Tanzania by a convincing 63-run margin in the first semi-final of the Africa Regional qualifier in Harare on Thursday.
This qualification marks a significant milestone for Namibian cricket, as the 2026 edition will be their fourth appearance on the global T20 stage. The team has previously competed in the 2021, 2022, and 2024 tournaments, with their stunning victory over Sri Lanka in the 2022 World Cup standing out as a historic highlight.
With this victory, Namibia becomes the 16th team to join the 20-nation roster for the upcoming World Cup. The African region will send one more team to the tournament, with the winner of the second semi-final between Zimbabwe and Kenya set to claim the remaining spot from the qualifier.
The journey to fill the final three spots for the 2026 World Cup continues. The Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifier, scheduled to begin on October 8 in Oman, will see teams including Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Nepal, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Qatar, Samoa, and the United Arab Emirates vying for those coveted positions.
