Womens Team India

A big moment for Indian cricket has arrived. India has officially secured a place in the women’s cricket tournament at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The qualification was confirmed by the ICC and IOC on June 29. Cricket is making a return to the Olympics after more than a century. The last time it was played was in 1900.

Six teams will compete in the T20 event, scheduled from July 22 to 29 in LA. India earned direct entry as the top team from Asia during the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales. They finished third in Group A, ahead of Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Australia, Great Britain, and South Africa also secured direct qualification as the top teams from their respective regions. The semifinals of the World Cup will feature South Africa vs England and Australia vs West Indies.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah called it a landmark moment. He said it is a great opportunity for the sport and the players. For India, it is another chance to shine on the world stage. The wait for Olympic cricket is almost over. And India will be there.
