England Call Up Young Pacer Alexa Stonehouse for New Zealand ODI Series

England have added young fast bowler Alexa Stonehouse to their squad for the ongoing women’s ODI series against New Zealand. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed her inclusion ahead of the second match on Wednesday.

Stonehouse comes in as cover after some strong performances in the domestic One-Day Cup. She has taken eight wickets in five matches at an average of 25.12, including three-wicket hauls in her last two outings against Durham and Somerset.

This is a maiden call-up for the young pacer at the international level.

England already lead the three-match series after winning a very close first ODI by just one wicket. The match was played in Durham on May 10.

New Zealand are currently touring England for three ODIs and three T20Is. This series is an important preparation for both teams ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be held in England and Wales.

England are the defending champions. They are placed in Group 2 of the World Cup along with the hosts, Ireland, Scotland, Sri Lanka and the West Indies. The tournament starts on June 12 with England playing Sri Lanka in the opener at Edgbaston.
