BCCI Raises Sponsorship Prices for Indian Cricket Team Post Dream11 Exit, Eyes Over ₹400 Crore Deal
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has significantly increased the valuation for sponsoring the Indian cricket team, setting new base rates above what outgoing sponsor Dream11 had paid. Sources reveal the revised reserve price is ₹3.5 crore for bilateral matches and about ₹1.5 crore for multilateral fixtures such as ICC and ACC events. These figures mark a 10% uplift for bilateral games and a smaller, around 3%, rise for multilateral tournaments compared to previous rates of ₹3.17 crore and ₹1.12 crore, respectively.
This price gap aligns with brand visibility differences, as sponsors gain greater mileage from bilateral matches, where logos appear centrally on player jerseys, whereas at ICC and ACC competitions, brand mentions are confined to the sleeves, limiting exposure. The BCCI plans a three-year sponsorship deal covering roughly 130 matches; including major events like the 2026 T20 World Cup and the 2027 ODI World Cup, with earnings expected to exceed ₹400 crore, potentially more depending on bidding outcomes.
The tender process will take place on September 16, making it impossible to secure a sponsor before the Asia Cup begins September 9. Officials confirmed no interim sponsorship arrangement is likely. The Invitation for Expression of Interest explicitly bans companies in gaming, betting, cryptocurrency, tobacco, and others conflicting with current BCCI sponsors, following new government regulations under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025. This legislation led to Dream11’s unexpected exit despite a lucrative contract.
As the BCCI moves forward with this renewed sponsorship approach, the board is balancing regulation compliance with maximizing commercial value, setting the stage for a fresh partnership that could boost Indian cricket’s financial strength in the coming years.
