Building the perfect settlement in Pokémon Pokopia is an absolute blast right up until you hit the inevitable wall: you are completely out of resources. You’ve strip-mined your local biomes, and tearing down your beautifully crafted Pokémon Center to recycle parts is out of the question.
Enter Dream Islands.
Think of Dream Islands as Pokopia’s answer to Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Nook Miles Tickets. These are procedurally generated, instanced resource hubs that you can travel to, strip bare of all materials, and leave without ruining the aesthetic of your home world. By using specific Pokémon Dolls, you can choose exactly which biome to visit, ensuring you get exactly the loot you need for your next big build.
Here is the complete breakdown of every Dream Island, the Doll required to get there, and the exclusive materials you can farm.

Step 1: Unlocking Travel (Befriend Drifloon)
You can’t just teleport to a Dream Island; you need a ride. Early in your Withered Wasteland playthrough, you’ll find a Drifloon floating near the shoreline (behind the breakable wall on the right side of the Pokémon Center).
To get Drifloon to work with you, you need to build its preferred habitat: Riding Warm Updrafts:
- Craft three campfires.
- Line them up next to each other.
- Call over a Burn Specialty Pokémon (like Charmander) to light them up.
- Talk to Drifloon to officially move it in.
- Once Drifloon is settled, it becomes your personal pilot to the Dream Islands.
Step 2: How to Find Dream Island Dolls
To tell Drifloon where to go, you need the corresponding Pokémon Doll. Most of these (like Clefairy, Arcanine, Dragonite, and Ditto) are RNG drops found by digging up treasure blocks or opening Poké Balls. However, once you level up Palette Town’s Environment Level, you can just buy them directly from the PC Shop.
If you are just starting out, you can guarantee two Dolls immediately:
- Eevee Doll: Head to the northwest section of Bleak Beach. Look for the small islands near where you find Peakychu. Inside the ruined house on one of these islands is the Eevee Doll.
- Pikachu Doll: There are actually two on Bleak Beach. One is in the ruins directly opposite the Eevee Doll. The second is sitting behind some sand blocks in the first house on the left when facing away from the Bleak Beach Pokémon Center.
Step 3: Traveling to the Island (Gamer Pro-Tips)
When you have your Doll and are ready to farm, do some prep work. Empty your inventory completely. You want maximum pocket space. Also, pack food—if you are heading to the Volcanic island for Iron and Gold, you will need snacks to power up your Rock Smash ability to break the ore nodes.
To travel:
- Place the desired Doll on the ground outside (this will not work indoors).
- Interact with the Doll to summon Drifloon.
- Select “I wanna go to a Dream Island.”
The Golden Rule of Dream Islands: You can only choose one Dream Island type per day. The good news is that you can travel back and forth to that specific island as many times as you want on that given day. Forget your food? Zip back home, grab a salad, and head right back to the exact same island instance.
FAQs
Q: If I leave my Dream Island and come back on the same day, do the resources respawn?
No. The instance saves its state for the entire day. If you strip-mine all the iron ore and leave, the island will still be barren when you return. You have to wait for the daily reset to generate a fresh island.
Q: Where is the best place to find Stardust for online multiplayer items?
Dream Islands are the only place to get Stardust. When you land on an island, immediately look for the caves (each island usually spawns about two of them). Stardust and rare Crystals are almost exclusively found deep inside these cave systems.
Q: I placed my Arcanine Doll down but Drifloon isn’t showing up. Is my game bugged?
Double-check where you placed it. Drifloon cannot spawn inside buildings or heavily obstructed areas. Pick the Doll up and place it in a wide-open outdoor space in your settlement, and the prompt should trigger properly.
