How to Get Sword Horizon: The Ghostlight Market Run
You need to collect 10 Sword Horizon: Tomes to unlock this Inner Art. These are acquired by purchasing “Unknown Old Books” from a vendor named Ni Laoshan in the Ghostlight Market. Here is the exact route to get there, even if you haven’t unlocked Kaifeng City yet.
Step 1: Access the Ghostlight Market Early
If you haven’t progressed the main story to Kaifeng, head to the west side of Qinghe to Riverside Station. Find the bounty board and pick up the Bounty Trouble side tale. This quest forcefully kidnaps you and dumps you straight into the Ghostlight Market to kick off the March of the Dead questline. Touch the Boundary Stone to unlock the fast travel point.
Step 2: Clear the Fog (The Time Skip)
During March of the Dead, the market is closed, filled with spirits, and choked by a miasmic fog. You don’t actually need to finish the quest to shop. Just open your menu, select the Clock/Wait function, and advance the time to anywhere except the Mao hour. The fog will clear, and the market will open for business.
Step 3: Buy the Books (The Coin Sink)
Speak to Horse Face at the market entrance to grab the Ghost Rat Mask. Put it on.
Walk straight down the main street until you hit the second large flight of stone stairs with lanterns hanging above.
Look to your left for the antique bookstore. Walk in, and look up—the vendor, Ni Laoshan, is chilling on the ceiling.
Buy his stock of Unknown Old Books at 12,500 Coins a pop. Getting the actual Sword Horizon pages from these books is luck-based. You will need to buy up to 30 books to guarantee your 10 tomes, meaning you should bring 375,000 Coins to be safe.
(Gamer Tip: If your wallet is light, open your bag, head to the Money Bag tab, and buy Strings of Coins from the Season Shop to bridge the gap.)
Once equipped, Sword Horizon fundamentally changes your Strategic Sword rotation by rewarding perfect inputs.
The Core Effect: After you cast any of the Strategic Sword’s Martial Art, Special, or Charged Skills, you need to press the skill button again at the perfect timing during the animation’s ending phase. Doing so triggers Crisscrossing Swords, unleashing a flurry of follow-up attacks.
The Nuke: If the enemy you are hitting has 5 stacks of Bleed, Crisscrossing Swords instantly strips all 5 stacks and triggers a massive burst of “high Bleed damage” all at once. It’s an incredibly satisfying rhythm-based mechanic that shreds boss health bars.
Breakthrough Tier Bonuses
To truly min-max this Inner Art, you’ll need to upgrade its Breakthrough Tiers. To do this, you need to hit Solo Mode Level 4 (Level 4 Roaming) and farm Sword Horizon: Notes (obtainable via Seasonal Events like Fireworks Festival, buying them from Zhao Feiyan in Kaifeng, or using Jade Fish in the Season Shop).
Here is what you get for investing your Notes:
- Tier 1: Casting Crosswind Blade restores 8 Endurance. (Great for stamina management).
- Tier 2: Increases Max Physical Attack based on your Solo Mode Level.
- Tier 3: Dealing high Bleed damage builds “Crosswind Blade Spirit.” When full, your next Crosswind Blade is a guaranteed Affinity hit.
- Tier 4: When your Unrestricted Sword Intent isn’t empty, your high Bleed burst damage gets a flat 15% damage multiplier.
- Tier 5: Increases Physical Penetration by 5.6.
- Tier 6: The ultimate endgame buff. When Unrestricted Sword Intent isn’t empty, your Bleed detonation retains 2 stacks of Bleed on the enemy (making it infinitely easier to stack back to 5). Furthermore, triggering a Comprehension hit with Unrestricted Sword while Intent is full retains 20 points of Intent.

FAQs
Q: I’m at the Ghostlight Market, but everything is dead and foggy. What gives?
A: You’re stuck in the March of the Dead quest instance. You don’t have to beat it right now. Just use the “Wait” clock function in your menu and change the time of day (just avoid Mao hour). The NPC vendors will spawn right in.
Q: Is the 375k Coin sink really worth it for one Inner Art?
A: If you are maining the Strategic Sword, absolutely. The burst damage from detonating 5 Bleed stacks is one of the highest burst-DPS windows in the current meta. If you play other weapons, save your coins for now.
Q: I keep missing the “perfect timing” for Crisscrossing Swords. Any tips?
A: Don’t mash. Treat it like a rhythm game. Wait for your character’s weapon to visually glow or hit the apex of the follow-through animation before tapping the skill button again. Go beat up some low-level mobs in Qinghe to build the muscle memory before taking it into an encounter with Guo Xin.
