Lord’s to Host 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup Final: A Historic Showdown Awaits!

England gears up to host the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup, with the grand final set to light up Lord’s on July 5. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) dropped this exciting news on May 1, marking the third straight ICC World Cup final at the iconic venue; following the women’s 50-over final in 2017 and the men’s ODI final in 2019, both of which England clinched. This time, 12 teams will battle it out starting June 12, split into two groups of six, playing 30 league matches across seven venues: Lord’s, Old Trafford, Headingley, Edgbaston, Hampshire Bowl, The Oval, and Bristol County Ground.
ICC Chair Jay Shah couldn’t hide his enthusiasm, praising the ECB’s knack for pulling off flawless tournaments and calling Lord’s the ultimate stage for the final. He believes England’s deep-rooted cricket culture will amplify the World Cup’s magic, bringing fans a thrilling mix of skill and spirit. Shah also hinted at the bigger picture; this tournament sets the stage for cricket’s Olympic comeback in Los Angeles 2028, aiming to captivate a global audience.
ECB CEO Richard Gould echoed the excitement, dubbing it the biggest women’s cricket event ever in England and Wales. He’s pumped to confirm the seven iconic venues, with Lord’s as the crown jewel; every cricketer’s dream stage for a World Cup final. Gould emphasized creating a world-class experience for players, fans, and broadcasters, hoping to spark a new wave of fans who’ll grow up with women’s cricket as a core part of the sport.
This tournament isn’t just a one-off; it’s a movement to grow the game, welcoming young and old to cheer on the world’s best. Mark your calendars for a summer of epic T20 action!
