Shresta Iyer Claps Back at Trolls Over Old IPL Banter Video Amid Playoff Exit
Shresta Iyer, sister of Punjab Kings (PBKS) and former KKR captain Shreyas Iyer, has found herself at the center of a social media storm after an old IPL banter video resurfaced following PBKS’s playoff exit on May 24.
What Happened?
Back in April, Shresta had posted a playful Punjabi reel mocking Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after PBKS split a rain-abandoned IPL point with the franchise. The video was quickly deleted amid initial backlash but resurfaced after PBKS failed to advance further in the tournament, sparking a fresh wave of memes and targeted abuse.

The Backlash
Shresta revealed that the trolling escalated to the point where she received abusive messages in her DMs and even at her workplace. In a series of emotional Instagram videos, she hit back at critics, calling them “jobless” and “cheap” .
Her Response
Unapologetic about her support for PBKS, Shresta emphasized that her actions were simply a display of “fun support” for her brother’s team. She vowed to continue cheering for Shreyas regardless of the backlash and added a pointed remark about “praying for their karma” implying she hopes trolls face consequences for their online behavior.
