Ubisoft has provided some updates about their most successful franchises. According to an interview with CEO Yves Guillemot by Variety, new Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed games are being worked on currently.
This news comes during a difficult time for Ubisoft as they have lost several employees due to layoffs, made some changes to their studios, cancelled a few projects, and had internal protests by employees.
Although the company claims they will provide a better pipeline of released products as a result of the restructuring of the company, there are many employees and fans who are still unsure of what’s coming next.

Guillemot revealed that Ubisoft currently has two Far Cry games in production, though he stopped short of sharing official details. Reports circulating inside the industry point to one being the next mainline entry and another a multiplayer-focused experience. The projects have reportedly gone through internal revisions and delays during the company’s recent restructuring.
Following the traditional Far Cry open-world design, Far Cry 6 launched in 2021. The recent news indicates that they will introduce some major design changes for the next installment of the series. The speculation suggests that there will be a new storytelling format (time politics) and new gameplay mechanics (survival-style gameplay) in addition to the traditional first-person shooter element.
Ubisoft is expanding the Far Cry franchise beyond video games. There are plans in place for the creation of a Far Cry live-action television series in the near future. Ubisoft’s strategy demonstrates its commitment to building long-lasting franchises instead of developing standalone products. By leveraging the creativity found in the existing studio structure of the company, the development teams at Vantage Studios will create consistent vision with each future release of the Far Cry series.
Multiple Assassin’s Creed Games Planned Amid Layoffs and Protests

Ubisoft confirmed several Assassin’s Creed titles are in development, covering both single-player and multiplayer experiences. Some projects are already known publicly, while others remain unannounced. The company wants to grow a community that reportedly exceeded 30 million players last year.
However, the announcement landed during a turbulent period. Ubisoft recently introduced a creative house structure, cut jobs, closed projects, and cancelled multiple games as part of a major cost-reduction plan.
The changes triggered employee protests and calls for leadership changes. Guillemot acknowledged the situation, saying he understands staff concerns and that the company is going through a major transformation.Ubisoft argues the restructuring will improve release consistency and game quality over the next three years.
As it stands, players have a clear message. Ubisoft is doubling down on their largest franchises and at the same time trying to reshape the rest of their company as internally they are attempting to provide improved quality of products and reduce delays on game releases. Time will tell if the company’s recent restructuring efforts will produce better-quality games or increased delays before we see this play out in action with the next wave of announcements.
