How to Get Mushrooms in Schedule 1

Mushrooms in Schedule 1

Mushrooms were added to Schedule 1 as part of the Shrooms update, and they work very differently from other products in the game. You cannot just buy them and sell them right away. You need to unlock the right contact, buy specific equipment, and follow a precise growing process.

This guide explains exactly how you can get mushrooms in Schedule 1 from start to finish using clear steps

How to Get Mushrooms in Schedule 1

To gain mushrooms, you first must have access to the Downtown section and the right supplier. Version 0.4.2 brought in mushrooms, and depending on when you play, they could be either in the beta branch or the main game.

After eventually unlocking mushrooms, they become a completely growable product which means you can harvest, improve, and ultimately sell them.

Unlocking Mushrooms and Fungal Phil

Mushrooms come from a supplier called Fungal Phil. You won’t be able to contact him at the beginning of the game. To get him, you have to befriend either Elizabeth Homley or Kevin Oakley.

This can be done by selling your products to them while keeping the quality high. Using equipment such as a drying rack will improve quality and speed up the process.

When your relationship status turns to friendly, Fungal Phil will send you a message along with the quest “Vibin’ on the ’Cybin” locked. This quest leads you into the full mushroom growing system.

If the cartel has locked the Downtown region, then you will have to do some influencing activities such as graffiti work, interrupting deals, and keeping customers satisfied till Downtown becomes accessible; thus reducing the cartel’s influence.

Alternative Way to Find Mushrooms Early

You can find small amounts of mushrooms in the sewer system if you have the Sewer Key. These mushrooms appear scattered in the sewers, but each spot only gives one mushroom. The quality is always basic, and the supply is very limited. This method is not good for long-term profit, but it can give you early access before you officially unlock mushroom growing.

Starting the Vibin’ on the ’Cybin Quest

Once Fungal Phil contacts you, you can message him and order a dead drop. At the start, the quest tells you to buy a grain bag and a spore syringe.

You should also buy mushroom substrate at the same time because you will need it later anyway. Fungal Phil limits how many items you can order early on, so plan your purchases carefully.

At the same time, you must visit Oscar at the Warehouse to buy mushroom equipment. If you have not unlocked the Warehouse yet, you need to progress the main story until you reach Hoodlum V and complete the related side mission.

The Warehouse is only open at night, between 6 pm and 6 am.

Equipment You Need to Grow Mushrooms

To grow mushrooms properly, you need several items. From Fungal Phil, you need grain bags, spore syringes, and mushroom substrate.

From Oscar at the Warehouse, you need a mushroom spawn station and a mushroom bed. From a hardware store, you must buy an AC unit and a spray bottle.

This setup is required for every mushroom operation. Without the AC unit, mushrooms will not grow at all. Without the spray bottle, you cannot water them. Make sure you have enough space in your property before placing everything down.

Inoculating the Grain Bag

Once your equipment is ready, place the mushroom spawn station inside one of your properties. Interact with it and add one grain bag and one spore syringe. This starts a mini-game.

You need to tilt the syringe toward the grain bag and push the plunger until it reaches full progress. When done correctly, the grain bag changes color, and you receive mushroom spawn. This spawn is the key ingredient for growing mushrooms.

Preparing the Mushroom Bed

Next, place the mushroom bed nearby. Add mushroom substrate into the bed first. Then add the mushroom spawn.

This starts another mini-game where you break the spawn into small chunks and mix it evenly into the substrate. Be careful during this step. If a piece falls off the surface, you must restart the process.

Once mixed properly, the bed is ready for growth.

Cooling and Watering Mushrooms

Mushrooms need cold conditions to grow. The temperature must stay below 15°C. Place the AC unit facing the mushroom bed and set it to cooling mode. You can check the temperature directly on the unit.

Mushrooms also require misting instead of normal watering. Fill the spray bottle at a sink or tap. When watering, look for the blue target icons on the mushroom bed.

Rotate the spray bottle to face the target and mist it until the indicator fills. You must repeat this regularly while the mushrooms grow.

Harvesting and Using Mushrooms

After about one in-game day, the mushrooms will fully grow. When they reach 100%, use trimmers to harvest them. After harvesting, you can place them on drying racks to improve quality.

Once dried, mushrooms can be packaged at a packing station using bags or jars. You can then sell them directly or mix them with ingredients from the gas station to create higher-value strains.
