How to Defeat the Balancers in Elden Ring Nightreign?

Balancers in Elden Ring Nightreign

The Balancers are a group boss in The Forsaken Hollows DLC. You fight seven enemies at the same time, and they revive each other once phase two begins. The fight is long, the damage is high, and you must stay aware of your surroundings.

This guide explains how the fight works and how you can defeat them with simple and clear steps.

How to Defeat the Balancers in Elden Ring Nightreign?

1. Unlocking the Balancers

After unlocking the Scholar and the Undertaker, Balancers will appear on Day 3 of the Balancers expedition. The Balancers are susceptible to Sleep, and Sleep effects are effective on both the normal and the empowered version.

Heavy weapons are also a good option, as each Balancer gets staggered when hit hard. However, they resist Bleed, Poison, Holy, and most elements, so these options are not the best.

2. Prepare Before the Fight

Your setup will have a big impact. Bring along players and items such as, Sleep pots and Sleep grease. A Sleep weapon may also be of assistance.

Level 15 is the most secure level for this battle, as a lot of damage will be dealt. At least two flasks from churches should be secured so that healing does not become an issue.

Scholar, Undertaker, and Ironeye is a pretty good combination. The Scholar distributes the damage evenly over all the enemies.

The Undertaker can keep himself out of danger for the most part and at the same time, help to revive his comrades. The Ironeye can spot the enemies and revive the allied fighters even from a distance.

Phase One

The fight begins with seven Balancers dropping into the arena. They move fast and often attack from the sides or from behind.

Try to stay close to your team so you can see more of them at once. Focus on one Balancer at a time so you can reduce their numbers. Their thrusts, jumps, and small magic attacks are easy to read if you watch their weapons.

Do not use Sleep items yet. Save them for phase two. Try to use as few flasks as possible, since the next phase is harder. When all seven fall, only a small part of the main health bar will drop.

Phase Two

After you defeat them once, they rise again. One Balancer now has pink wings and gains new attacks. Phase two starts with an aerial assault.

The Balancers fly across the arena and leave trails on the ground that explode after a short delay. Watch the ground and move as soon as you see the trails. A large blast marks the end of this attack.

The empowered Balancer then joins the fight on the ground. She has a marked strike that targets your location, a wide magic blast that boosts her attack, and a long combo that ends with ranged shots. She is more aggressive than the others, and you must keep moving.

Strategy for Phase Two

If you are playing solo then your main target should be the empowered Balancer. When she is killed, the other Balancers are stunned for a short time. This allows you to either heal or damage them before they get back to their original state.

If you are in a team then one player can distract the empowered Balancer while the others deal with the weaker Balancers.

This is the best moment to use Sleep items. By putting the empowered Balancer to sleep you create a safe time frame to reset the fight. The Scholar’s Ultimate is very effective here as it connects the damage to all Balancers at once.

You will go through the cycle of attacking and reviving until the main health bar hits zero. The Balancers will perform their aerial spear attack again towards the end so keep an eye on the ground signs.

Rewards for Beating the Balancers

You receive Murk, a collection of relics, and the Will of the Balancers relic as your prize for the battle. The latter relic enhances melee attack, skill attack, and slows down FP recovery. After the first clear, the next expedition will be open to you.
