How to Defeat Divine Beast Dancing Lion in Elden Ring Nightreign?

Divine Beast Dancing Lion in Elden Ring Nightreign

The Divine Beast Dancing Lion is one of the toughest early bosses in The Forsaken Hollows DLC. It moves fast, mixes long combos with elemental attacks, and can overwhelm you if you rush in blindly.

This guide explains how the fight works, how to stay safe in each phase, and when to attack so you can take down the Dancing Lion without getting trapped in its pressure.

How to Defeat Divine Beast Dancing Lion in Elden Ring Nightreign?

1. Unlocking Beast Dancing Lion

The Dancing Lion is a Night Two boss in the Dreglord expedition. To balance the fight the level of players should be around Level 12 but those with perfect timing of dodge can challenge it earlier.

The boss fight consists of two major parts: a physical phase followed by a rotating elemental phase which alternates between Lightning, Frost, and Wind.

Below are the crucial strategies that will enable you to read its attacks, control the fight, and safely punish it.

2. Stay at Mid-Range

The boss is very aggressive and often performs chained attacks; hence, standing right in front of it is not advisable.

Mid-range is the safest option where you can quickly determine whether the boss is going to lunge, spin, or perform a breath attack. Only punish after the boss has finished delivering a full combo—do not try to interrupt its moves when the boss is still halfway through.

Moving to either side or behind the boss makes the fight easier as the most dangerous attacks of the boss usually do not reach behind it.

3. Master Phase One Movement

During the first part of the fight, the boss uses pure physical attacks: lunges, spins, bites, and a dangerous grabbing attack.

When the Lion rises upright and clicks its jaws twice, it is preparing the grab. If this hits you, it deals heavy damage and causes the boss to heal when you drink a flask.

Roll to the side to avoid this grab and counter from behind. For all other attacks, focus on dodging toward the Lion rather than away from it, since dodging backward can make you eat the delayed hits that follow many combos.

4. Focus on Surviving During the Lightning Form

Once the boss shifts to its elemental phase, Lightning is the most dangerous version. Lightning strikes appear all over the arena, breath attacks reach farther, and the Lion can throw lightning spears that explode moments after landing.

This is not the time to be greedy—keep moving, avoid glowing circles on the ground, and wait for the elemental effect to fade before attacking again. If you must heal, do it right after the boss roars while changing its form.

5. Punish Hard During Frost and Wind Forms

Frost and Wind forms are much easier to deal with:

  • Frost produces ice spikes when the Lion stomps the ground. Back up, wait for the ice to erupt, then use jumping attacks to punish.
  • Wind introduces tornado attacks that track you briefly. Strafe sideways and dodge at the last moment. Most of its base combos are unchanged, so you can punish them the same way you did in Phase One.

These two forms give you several clean openings, so save your big attacks for these moments.

6. Aim for Staggers With Strong Attacks

The Dancing Lion can be staggered if you land several heavy hits or well-timed jump attacks. When its posture breaks, sprint to the head and perform a critical hit. This is the fastest way to remove huge chunks of its health.

If you’re playing with a teammate, let them hold aggro while you stay behind the boss. This keeps you away from most breath attacks and combos.
