The Choice is a late-game task in Escape from Tarkov that tests how far you have progressed as a player. This quest is not about combat or exploration. Instead, it asks you to give up one of the most valuable secure containers in the game. If you want the rewards and reputation boost, you must be ready to make that sacrifice.

How to Complete The Choice Quest in Escape from Tarkov
Quest Requirements
In order to even contemplate of accepting The Choice, you need to have a minimum level requirement.
Level 50 or above is what you’ll be needing. If you are under level 50, the quest will simply not show up regardless of the items in your possession.
Offering the quest is Fence who has only one goal for the player, but the journey to that objective will be quite long.
The Way to Acquire the Epsilon Secure Container
Complete Secure Container Epsilon is the main prerequisite for The Choice quest. This container cannot be bought or found during raids. Your only option for acquiring it is by finishing a very hard quest line.
You will have to complete Punisher Part 6, which is assigned by Prapor. This quest is often marked as the hardest in the game and it consists of several PvP-focused objectives.
To complete Punisher Part 6, you need to:
- Kill 15 PMC players using an SVD rifle (Factory does not count)
- Find 7 BEAR PMC dog tags in raid
- Hand over the 7 BEAR dog tags
- Find 7 USEC PMC dog tags in raid
- Hand over the 7 USEC dog tags
Once all objectives are done, you turn in the quest to Prapor and receive the Secure Container Epsilon as the reward.
Handing Over the Epsilon to Fence
After you receive the Epsilon container, return to Fence.
Accept The Choice quest and hand over the Secure Container Epsilon. There are no extra steps, locations, or combat requirements.
As soon as you submit the container, the quest is completed.
Be aware that you lose the Epsilon permanently after turning it in, so make sure you are comfortable giving it up before finishing the quest.
Rewards for Completing The Choice
Completing The Choice gives strong late-game rewards that focus on progression rather than gear.
You receive:
- 433,333 EXP
- +2 levels to Hideout Management skill
- Fence reputation +1.1
- 1,000,000 Roubles
- 1,050,000 Roubles if you have Intelligence Center Level 1
- 1,150,000 Roubles if you have Intelligence Center Level 2
This quest is mainly worth doing if you care about Fence reputation, hideout bonuses, and long-term progression rather than keeping the Epsilon container.
If you have reached level 50 and already finished Punisher Part 6, The Choice is one of the easiest quests to complete mechanically—but one of the hardest in terms of what you must give up.
