How To Beat Scarlet Tyrant Octopath Traveler 0: Master of Power
1. How to Begin the Quest in Emberglow
The prologue to the chapter starts as soon as you arrive at Emberglow, located in the Frostlands. Go inside the tavern and chat with the bartender.
After he talks about Tytos and the Scarlet Wings, have a word with Velnorte already in the room. This interaction not just initiates the narrative but also guides you to the first significant clash.
2. Trailing Velnorte Through the City
Once Velnorte has left the tavern, keep pace with him and catch up with the eastern area of Emberglow. The moment you step into the region, you are automatically engaged in a battle with the Abnormal Ruffian.
This opposing force causes a lot of damage in the early stages of the game, thereby, it is advisable to concentrate on breaking its defense quickly and heal frequently to prevent getting knocked out suddenly.
Post-battle, Velnorte takes you to his place. After that scene, you are free to go east. However, before you get too far, it is a good idea to recruit Macy from the inn as having another healer will make the laboratory section less dangerous.
3. Entering Emberglow Laboratory
Move east from the house and follow the path to reach the laboratory entrance. Inside, you will find several floors connected by short hallways and staircases.
Follow the obvious route upward until you reach a large corridor with a save point. This area leads to the cutscene that reveals the truth behind the research being done for Tytos.
After this scene, Velnorte asks you to locate a servant who has lost control due to the experiments. Before meeting this boss, you can explore a nearby path for an optional fight and a useful mastery.
4. Optional Elites and Useful Rewards
One of the optional paths goes to an Elite Enemy who upon his defeat gives away very powerful early gear. Though you are not required to take this route, it still helps if you want to be more powerful when you eventually face Al.
The other optional path leads to an Elite Enemy, which guards a mastery hidden behind a narrow passage and is very hard to find. If your levels and healing are good, you can actually take both before going to the main boss.
5. Search for Al in the Laboratory
Al is located on the lowest floor of the building, close to a set of tables in the library area situated at the center of the building. Go to him to start the main boss fight of the chapter.
This fight is really tough and one of the hardest early fights as Al can hit a single character more than once during the same turn. Always keep every member of your party at full health and pay attention to his heavy attacks.
You can go through his guard by doing Sword, Dagger, Axe, Staff, Wind or Light attacks. Velnorte comes to the battle with support skills that increase your survivability. When you manage the fight with consistent breaks and healing, Al will eventually succumb.
6. Completing The Scarlet Tyrant Chapter
After the battle, you wake at the inn and speak with Rinyuu. She gives you the Bell Amulet, which becomes important later. Leave the inn and return to Velnorte’s house. This final scene closes the chapter and sets the direction for the next stage of the Master of Power story.
