Animals make the world of Grand Theft Auto Online feel alive, but the game never tells you where to find them. They do not appear on the map, and many only spawn in certain regions or at specific times. If you want to see every animal, take photos, or just explore the world more closely, this guide explains exactly where you should go.
Most animals spawn during the daytime, so switch sessions or wait until morning if you are not seeing anything.
Where To Find All Animals in GTA Online
Boar Locations
Boars are mainly found in Sandy Shores. The rundown motel in that area is the best spot to find them. They are active during the day and are seen along the dirt paths, near the buildings.
Border Collie Locations
Border Collies can be seen in a few outdoor areas. Paleto Cove in the northwest corner of the map is one of such areas. You can take a walk on the beach and the adjacent paths, and they would be moving around the shoreline.
Cat Locations
Cats are plentiful and their locations are many, but they are mainly seen in Los Santos. Check out the residential areas with a lot of people instead of the empty streets. Lass of the Vespucci Canals is one good example where cats can be seen between the houses and alleys.
Chicken Hawk Locations
Chicken Hawks are not very different from the common hawks and they are mostly spotted in the northern areas. Sandy Shores and Mount Chiliad are two good choices. They can occasionally be seen at the Sandy Shores Airfield, which is a reliable spawning point, as it is where they sometimes sit on the bus that has been crashed near the main buildings.
Cow Locations
Cows only appear at farms. One reliable spot is the farm south of the Redwood Lights Track, which doubles as a construction site and race track. You will usually see them grouped together in fenced areas.
Coyote Locations
Coyotes never appear inside Los Santos. They roam the countryside and desert areas instead. You can spot them near the freeway in North Chumash. They move quickly and scare easily, so approach slowly if you want a clear look.
Crow Locations
Crows have very limited spawn areas. Lago Zancudo on the western side of the map is the best place to find them. They often take flight when you get close, so you will usually see them in the air rather than on the ground.
Deer Locations
Deer are common in rural and forested areas. Paleto Forest in the north is one of the easiest places to spot them. They tend to roam in open spaces between trees.
Great Cormorant Locations
Great Cormorants spawn near water. Lago Zancudo is the most reliable location. Look along the shoreline, where they sit close to the water before flying away.
Hen Locations
Hens appear in desert and farming areas, not cities. Sandy Shores and the Grand Senora Desert are good regions to check. A dependable spot is Grapeseed, where hens can be seen inside fenced areas.
Husky Location
There is only one Husky spawn in the game. You can find it in the Burton area of Los Santos. It usually sits still at first and then starts walking after a short time.
Mountain Lion Locations
Mountain Lions spawn in wild, mountainous regions and can attack if you get too close. The Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness is a strong location to find them. Be cautious, as they are aggressive.
Pig Locations
Pigs appear in pens and farms across the map. One clear spawn point is at Martin Madrazo’s estate in Vinewood Hills, where pigs are kept inside fenced areas.
Poodle Locations
Poodles spawn in upscale parts of Los Santos. Mirror Park is a reliable area, where you can see them walking calmly through the neighborhood.
Pug Locations
Pugs are rare, but you can find one in Rockford Hills. Check around the Portola Drive shopping area, where it usually walks nearby.
Rabbit Locations
Rabbits are extremely common outside Los Santos. You can find them almost anywhere in rural zones. A specific location is the footpath west of Los Santos that leads toward the Kortz Center.
Retriever Locations
Retrievers appear both in Los Santos and in northern regions. Vespucci is a good area to spot them, especially near sidewalks close to the Mask shop.
Rottweiler Locations
Rottweilers spawn in poorer city areas and northern regions. Rancho is a reliable Los Santos location, while Sandy Shores also has frequent spawns.
Seagull Locations
Seagulls only appear near water. Check coastlines, beaches, and small offshore islands. If you are far from the ocean, you will not see them.
West Highland Terrier Locations
West Highland Terriers are uncommon. One known spawn point is in Del Perro, where the dog can often be found sitting on grass near pedestrian paths.
