Baldur’s Gate 3: Ceremonial Weapon Locations Guide (Stained-Glass Window Puzzle)

Baldur's Gate 3 Ceremonial Weapon Locations

While exploring Baldur’s Gate 3, you will reach Rosymorn Monastery, where a stained-glass window puzzle blocks further progress. This puzzle is linked to the Dawnmasters and requires placing the correct weapon types on nearby pedestals.

This guide explains where each required weapon is found and how to complete the puzzle correctly.

Baldur’s Gate 3: Ceremonial Weapon Locations Guide

The Dawnmaster puzzle is found on the highest level of Rosymorn Monastery. Observing the stained-glass window reveals the four characters of the Dawnmasters, all with different weapons in their hands.

The sword, axe, hammer, and mace must be matched to their respective places, and that is the way to crack the puzzle. It does not matter whether the weapons are used for their intended purpose or just kept in the armory; any suitable kind of regular weapon will suffice.

1. Location of the Ceremonial Longsword

The Ceremonial Longsword is located at the pedestal of Dawnmaster Welkinglory with coordinates X:70, Y:77. You can take the sword for yourself. Still, in that case, you will have to replace it with another longsword to keep the pedestal correct. Any regular longsword will meet the puzzle requirement.

2. Location of the Ceremonial Battleaxe

The Ceremonial Battleaxe is located beyond the Enchanted Door at coordinates X:92, Y:45. A level 7 enemy, a Guardian of Faith, is found behind this door.

You can either pick the lock on the door and then fight the enemy, or you can render the obstacles nearby harmless and attack the guardian from a safe distance.

Once opened, the battleaxe can be taken. If you already have a battleaxe, you can use it instead of the ceremonial one.

3. Ceremonial Warhammer Location

The Ceremonial Warhammer is located inside an eagle’s nest at coordinates X:82, Y:39. This area can be reached by climbing the Knotted Roots found across from the Enchanted Door.

It is possible to take the warhammer without fighting the eagles by distracting them, using invisibility, or moving the weapon with Mage Hand. If the area proves difficult, any normal warhammer can be placed on the pedestal instead.

4. Mace Location

A mace is required to complete the puzzle, even though it is not a ceremonial weapon. A Rusty Mace can be found by heading south past the Enchanted Door, entering the left-side room, and jumping down the broken staircase.

After breaking through a barricade at X:97, Y:46 and moving left, the Rusty Mace can be picked up at X:85, Y:32.

Another Rusty Mace can be found at the Dawnmaster’s grave at coordinates X:127, Y:-8. Digging up the grave reveals a coffin containing the weapon and a letter. Any mace you already own will also work for the puzzle.

How to Solve the Stained-Glass Window Puzzle

Return to the stained-glass window room at coordinates X:74, Y:68 once you have all required weapon types.

Place the battleaxe on Dawnmaster Vaseid’s pedestal, the warhammer on Dawnmaster Seed’s pedestal, the mace on Dawnmaster Stockhold’s pedestal, and the longsword on Dawnmaster Welkinglory’s pedestal.

When the final weapon is placed, a hidden section of the wall will open nearby.

Dawnmaster’s Crest Reward

Behind the opened wall at X:74, Y:75, you will find a pouch containing a note and the Dawnmaster’s Crest. This item is used later when obtaining The Blood of Lathander, although it is possible to claim the legendary weapon without using the crest.
