Yorkshire Confirm Joe Root & Harry Brook’s Return dates for the County Championship 2026
Yorkshire have officially announced that both Harry Brook and Joe Root will be available ahead of the 2026 County Championship match against Surrey on May 15. The two players will represent the White Rose County as they prepare for the upcoming home Test series against New Zealand, which begins on June 4.
As per confirmation, England’s all-time highest run scorer Joe Root will be available for the matches against Sussex (24 April), Somerset (1 May) and Surrey (15 May) , while England’s white-ball captain Harry Brook will be available for the matches against Warwickshire (8 May) and Surrey.
Jonny Bairstow was seen in action once again to lead Yorkshire, they will play their first match of the season against Glamorgan on April 3. However, Yorkshire did not have a good season in the County Championship Division One 2025, winning four and losing four of their 14 matches, leaving them content with a total of 168 points and a seventh-place finish.
Additionally, the County Championships Division One 2026 began with the first match between Surrey and Warwickshire, played at Birmingham on April 3. This season will see a total of 70 matches played across all ten teams, with the last match being played between Somerset and Surrey at Taunton from September 24-27.
