Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 to Light Up India and Sri Lanka
The 2025 Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place from September 30 to November 2 across five vibrant venues in India and Sri Lanka: Bengaluru, Guwahati, Indore, Visakhapatnam, and Colombo. This exciting tournament will kick off with hosts India launching their campaign in Bengaluru on September 30.
The tournament’s crucial stages will see the first semi-final played in either Guwahati or Colombo on October 29, followed by the second semi-final in Bengaluru on October 30. The grand final, set for November 2, will be hosted in either Bengaluru or Colombo, promising a thrilling conclusion to the event.
Eight teams will compete for the title: India, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Notably, due to earlier controversies surrounding India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, matches involving India and Pakistan in ICC events hosted by either nation will be played at neutral venues. For this World Cup, the Pakistan Women’s team will play their matches in Colombo, which could also host a semi-final and the final if Pakistan advances.
In related ICC news, the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup will commence on June 12 in Birmingham, with England featuring in the opening match. The tournament, expanding to 12 teams, will be hosted across venues including Old Trafford, Headingley, The Hampshire Bowl, and Bristol County Ground, with semi-finals at The Oval and the final at Lord’s on July 5.
The 2025 Women’s World Cup is poised to showcase top-tier cricket and fierce competition, with India and Sri Lanka ready to welcome fans to this global celebration of women’s cricket.
