Pakistan Name Strong ODI Squad for Australia Series with Big Stars Returning
The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced a 15-member squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia. Shaheen Afridi will lead the team, and several big names are back in the one-day setup.
Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Sufyan Moqim are all part of the list. They did not play in the ODI series against Bangladesh.
Three uncapped players have also been included in the ODI squad. Ahmed Daniyal, Arafat Minhas and Rohail Nazir have all played T20Is for Pakistan before.
Usman Khan was not considered for selection due to illness. Muhammad Ghazi Ghori and Rohail Nazir are the two wicketkeepers in the squad. Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub were also not included because they are recovering from injuries and will continue their rehabilitation.
The team will gather in Islamabad on Friday for a training camp. Australia will arrive in Pakistan on May 23, landing first in Islamabad.
The first ODI will be played on May 30 in Rawalpindi. The next two matches will be held in Lahore on June 2 and June 4.
The last time Pakistan and Australia played an ODI series was in late 2024. Pakistan won that series 2-1 in Australia. It was Pakistan’s first series win in Australia in 22 years. Australia last came to Pakistan for an ODI series in 2022, which Pakistan also won 2-1.
