Nepal, Malaysia, Hong Kong & Oman Book Tickets for Asian Games Cricket
Four more teams have punched their tickets to the 2026 Asian Games men’s cricket competition. Nepal, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Oman made it through after a strong showing in the qualifiers held in Singapore.
These four sides will now join the big names of Asian cricket. Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka got automatic spots because they are Full Member nations. Japan is also in the mix as the host country.
Nepal was the star of the qualifiers. They started with a massive 221-run win over China. Opener Kushal Bhurtel smashed a quick-fire 129 runs off just 43 balls. His team posted a huge total of 313 for 2. With that score, Nepal became the first team ever to have multiple 300-plus totals in men’s T20 cricket.
They did not stop there. Nepal then beat Malaysia by 167 runs. Bhurtel scored another century to help his team reach 275 for 7. With Qatar pulling out of the group, two wins were enough for Nepal to finish on top.
Malaysia also made sure of their spot by beating China in their first match.
In Group B, both Hong Kong and Oman stayed unbeaten. They defeated Bahrain and Singapore to secure qualification.
The men’s cricket event at the Asian Games will begin on September 24. The final is set for October 3.
Last week, the women’s qualifiers also finished. Thailand, Malaysia, and China booked their spots for the women’s competition, which runs from September 17 to 22.
