Mooney, Litchfield Power Australia to Seventh T20 World Cup Title

Beth Mooney did what she always does. Phoebe Litchfield showed she belongs on the big stage. And Australia walked away with another World Cup trophy.

In a dominant display at Lord’s, Australia chased down England’s total of 150 with ease. They won by seven wickets and 17 balls to spare. It was their seventh T20 World Cup title. And they have now won every T20 final they have ever played.

England batted first after losing the toss. But they never really got going. Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 58 not out, but she had to work hard for it. Freya Kemp added a quick 44 towards the end, helping England reach 150. It looked like a decent total. But it was never going to be enough against this Australian side.

Australia lost Georgia Voll early. But after that, it was all smooth sailing. Mooney and Litchfield added 100 runs together. Mooney finished with 64. Litchfield scored a stylish 48. They batted with confidence and kept the scoreboard moving. England had no answers. The chase was over in just 17.1 overs.

This was Mooney’s third straight half-century in a T20 World Cup final. She is the calm head in big games. When the pressure is on, she delivers. Litchfield, playing her first final, also showed she belongs on the biggest stage.

For Australia, this win ends a two-year World Cup drought. They had lost the last two major tournaments. But they are back on top now. For England, it was a bitter pill.
