Shocking! In-form Indian opener Pratika Rawal ruled out of the Women’s World Cup due to injury
The Indian Women’s team has suffered a major setback ahead of the semi-final against Australia. Pratika Rawal, who had become a topic of discussion in the cricket world due to her excellent batting, has been ruled out of the Women’s World Cup due to an injury. This setback for the Indian team comes at a time when they need her the most in the semi-final 2 against Australia on October 30.
Rawal suffered the injury when he slipped and fell on the ground while fielding near the boundary rope during a rain-affected match against Bangladesh at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The team’s support staff helped her off the field, and she did not return for the rest of India’s bowling innings or to open the innings in the match, which was eventually abandoned.
Pratika Rawal has scored 308 runs at an average of 51 in 6 innings of the seven matches played so far, making her the second-highest run scorer in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 after Smriti Mardhana. She has batted the best in the entire tournament so far and played a vital role in giving India a one-sided victory by hitting a brilliant century in the must-win game against New Zealand Women. Apart from a century and a half-century, Rawal has also taken two wickets in the tournament so far, which makes her role even bigger.
The Indian team’s World Cup journey hasn’t been particularly impressive, although they have qualified for the semi-finals with three wins. The Indian team will now face the strongest team of the tournament, Australia Women, in the semi-final 2 on October 30.
