Grace Harris Returns as Australia Reveal T20 World Cup Team

Australia have named their squad for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup. Young left-arm pacer Lucy Hamilton has earned her first World Cup call-up. Grace Harris has also returned to the team.

The 15-member squad will be led by captain Sophie Molineux. Ashleigh Gardner and Tahlia McGrath will be her two deputies.

Hamilton is very new to international cricket. She made her Test and ODI debut against India in March. So far, she has played only one T20I, which was against the West Indies. She got selected ahead of Darcie Brown, who did not take any wicket in the four T20Is she bowled this year.

Explaining the decision, national selector Shawn Flegler said Brown was unlucky, but the team chose Hamilton because she brings something different as a left-arm quick. He said raw pace may not work well in the expected conditions.

The Australian squad has a strong bowling attack. It includes experienced players like Ellyse Perry, who will play her 10th T20 World Cup, along with Megan Schutt and Kim Garth. The spin department has Molineux, Alana King, Ash Gardner and Georgia Wareham.

Tahlia Wilson has been named as the traveling reserve.

Flegler said the squad was not easy to pick, but the team has good balance and stability. He added that the group is experienced and capable of winning the World Cup.
