Fish in NTE: How to Unlock Fishing, Catch Fish, and Earn Scale Coins

How to Unlock Fishing in NTE

Hethereau City in Neverness to Everness is packed with side activities that go beyond the main story. If you want a break from fighting anomalies, you should learn how to fish in NTE. It is a relaxing hobby that can also help you earn Fons and Scale Coins over time.

The Sea Angler mechanics are actually pretty strict. But don’t worry I will guide you the fastest way to hit Tycoon Level 3, master the reel-in minigame, and catch rare spawns.

How to Unlock Fishing in NTE

Fishing is not available immediately after arriving in Hethereau. It is locked behind the City Tycoon system. You have to progress through it before the hobby unlocks.

Once your rank is high enough, the Sea Angler option will appear in the Hethereau Hobbies menu on your phone. This also unlocks the fishing progression system where you manage your rods and bait to earn specialized currency.

Sea Angler Unlock Requirements

To access this hobby, you must reach Tycoon Level 3. This milestone requires you to earn a specific amount of money and complete a few vehicle-based quests.

  • City Tycoon Rank: Reach Level 3.
  • Cumulative Wealth: Collect 118,300 Fons.
  • Vehicle Ownership: Own a four-wheeled car. The cheapest option usually costs around 50,000 Fons.
  • Quest Progress: Complete “Good Morning Hethereau,” “New Commission,” and “Legendary Driver.”
  • Tutorial Task: Finish the quest “Re: Zero–Starting Life as a Fisher” to get your first gear set.

How to Fish in NTE

After you unlock the hobby, pull up the City Tycoon app on your in-game phone. Go to the Hethereau Hobbies section and select the Sea Angler tile.

The app will show you the closest fishing spot. You will start with a basic rod and Universal Bait. You can also track any fishing icon on the map to create a navigation route.

How the Fishing Minigame Works

Casting the line is simple, but the real challenge starts after a fish bites. You have to balance Fish Stamina against your Fishing Line durability so the line does not snap.

  1. Approach a fishing icon and press the Hook button to cast.
  2. Wait for the bite prompt then hook your target.
  3. Press the Hook button again immediately to start the reel-in.
  4. A HUD will appear at the top of your screen with a moving green bar.
  5. Use the A and D keys on PC or the triggers on a controller to keep your indicator inside the green bar.
  6. Fish Stamina drains while your indicator stays inside the green zone. If your line durability hits zero first, the fish will escape.

Standard gear works for common fish, but you need better equipment for gold-rarity species. Specialty bait is mainly useful when targeting specific fish species.

How to Sell Fish and Earn Scale Coins in NTE

How to Sell Fish

Fishing is one of the best ways to generate currency. You can sell your catch through the Fish Hold tab in your hobby menu. This provides a base price and is the quickest way to earn Scale Coins for better gear.

If you want the most profit, check the Fish Market. Every day, the city picks three species that are in high demand. These can sell for bonus rewards that go up to 500 percent of their normal value.

Keep in mind that you can only sell two of each “in-demand” fish per day at this premium rate. Selling fish also costs City Stamina. You lose 1 point of stamina for every 1,000 Fons you earn from a sale.

FAQs

Does the weight of the fish help me level up faster?

No. Catch weight only changes how many Fons you get when you sell the fish. To level up your Fishing rank fast, just catch as many fish as possible.

Yes. You can fish as much as you want without using any City Stamina. The stamina cost only triggers when you sell your catch for Fons. You can stockpile fish in your inventory and sell them later when your stamina refills.

You should visit the Fishing Tackle Shop. This shop has a limited daily supply of Universal Bait that costs Fons. It is a good idea to buy this every day so you don’t have to spend your rare Scale Coins on basic bait.

Once you hit the max level of 10, you receive a unique angler skin for the Appraiser. Along the way, Fishing Levels also reward materials such as Annuliths and Expansion Cores.
