New Zealand’s Star All-rounder Joins MI Squad Before Match Against DC

There is good news for Mumbai Indians fans as New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner has joined the MI squad, which will definitely strengthen the team before their next match against Delhi Capitals.

Santner, who was absent in the first match due to personal leave, has now joined the team and will be available for selection in the upcoming match against Delhi on April 4. His arrival comes at a good time as Mumbai Indian had a strong start to their campaign this season. MI registered a six-wicket win over KKR at the Wankhede Stadium, successfully chasing a huge target of 220. Mumbai’s victory in the last match deserves credit for their batsmen, especially Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton, who forged a brilliant partnership to take control of the match early.

However, Mitchell Santner’s performance in the IPL hasn’t lived up to his reputation. He has played 31 matches so far, taking just 25 wickets and scoring 110 runs. However, he played for the Mumbai Indians for the first time last season, where he got a good chance to make his mark, taking 10 wickets in 13 matches, his best performance in any IPL season so far.

Although he performed well in New Zealand’s recent T20 series against South Africa, scoring 35 runs in three matches and taking five wickets. But he failed to deliver any significant bowling performance in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which concluded last month, taking only two wickets in eight matches. However, his batting performance was decent, scoring 120 runs in five innings at an average of 40 and a strike rate of over 142.
