Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile Is Shutting Down on April 17, 2026: What Players Need to Know

Activision has recently confirmed that Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is permanently shutting down. Players will be able to play the game until that day. However, once the servers go down, all online functionality will stop working.

That means no matchmaking, no progression, and no access to the title at all. Although, this wasn’t a surprise news as online support for this game effectively ended in May 2025. At that time the game was removed from the App Store and Google Play Store and real-money purchases were disabled.

Why Call of Duty Warzone Mobile Is Shutting Down

Call of Duty Warzone Mobile is permanently shutting down on April 17, 2026. But what is the reason behind this downfall, which was once dubbed as the “next big thing in mobile gaming?” Activision has the answer to this question. The company stated that the title failed to meet expectations with mobile-first audiences. The performance of Warzone Mobile looked more absurd if we look more into the long-running success of Call of Duty: Mobile.

Warzone Mobile launched globally on March 21, 2024 and instantly generated a huge buzz among the fans. It generated strong early revenue through microtransactions and almost captured the vibe of the original Warzone in everyone’s palm. However, it failed to maintain that stature and eventually fall off, whereas Call of Duty: Mobile is still dominating.

What Happens to Accounts, COD Points, and Purchases

Players who have already installed the game on their phones can still play this game until April 17, 2026. But after that date, the game will be completely inaccessible. So, players are advised to spend all of their unused COD Point before the closure date.

Accounts will behave differently depending upon how they were set up. Guests’ accounts will be permanently lost once servers go offline. On the other hand, the accounts linked to Activision will remain active across other supported Call of Duty titles on different platforms. As the game supported cross-progression, many shared in-game items like operator skins or weapon blueprint will continue to exist on console and PC Call of Duty versions.

Real money purchases were already disabled in May last year. So, new players won’t be able to download the game from any of the official stores and purchase in-game items. For the OG fans, April 17 marks the final drop into Verdansk and Rebirth Island on phones.
