Feng Ruzhi is one of the hardest world bosses in Where Winds Meet. She tests your timing, movement, and calm under pressure. This fight is not about rushing damage. You win by controlling space, parrying cleanly, and managing the Silk Ball mechanic without panic.
You first meet Feng Ruzhi during the Heavenfall campaign in Roaring Sands. After finishing that quest, she appears as a world boss in Verdant Hill Village. Her world boss version hits hard, moves fast, and gives very little room for mistakes.
How to Defeat Feng Ruzhi in Where Winds Meet
1. Understand the Silk Ball Mechanic
The Silk Ball is the center of attention in this battle. At the time when Feng Ruzhi uses certain glowing attacks, she knocks the ball away if she hits you.
When that occurs, a very brief timer is set. If the ball is not recovered before the timer runs out, the fight will be considered a failure no matter how much health is left for her.
Immediately stop attacking when the ball is taken. Then locate the guard or enemy that is holding it and quickly take them down. Trying to hit Feng Ruzhi while the timer is running almost always ends in bad results.
2. Bring the Right Companion
For this battle, Ruby is the most secure option. If you make a mistake, her revive ability will give you another chance. Other companions do not add much value and may not even be compatible. If you are still mastering Feng Ruzhi’s timing, Ruby can save what might have been an excellent run.
3. Stay Close and Control Your Position
Feng Ruzhi can be a real problem at a distance of about a meter, that is, in mid-range. She can use her throws, wind slashes, and dashing attacks which are all hard to deal with if you keep a distance from her.
Thus, it is a good idea to stay close, but slightly off to her side, circling instead of backing away in straight lines. This will allow you to dodge her air grabs and lunges much easier.
4. Dash Forward Against the Yellow Grab
Feng Ruzhi uses a super-fast yellow-glint grab from the air as one of her most damaging attacks. It is unguardable and also causes serious damage. The backward dodge does not help most of the time because of the long range of the grab.
The best option is to dash forward and pass underneath her as she comes down. This will confuse her for a short while and she will be vulnerable too.
5. Parry to Break Her Qi
Red-glint strike is the finishing move of most of Feng Ruzhi’s combos. These are your biggest chances to hit. Clean parries, not greedy attacks should be your focus. With each successful parry, her Qi bar drains a bit. When her Qi breaks, you can perform powerful damage that can be executed and at the same time, you take control of the fight again.
If you try to reduce her health by brute force attack without parrying, it will prolong the fight, and the chance of losing the Silk Ball will also increase.
6. Recognize Her Combo Patterns
Feng Ruzhi performs a series of fast melee hits, aerial cuts and sudden rushes. If you are relaxed and pay attention to her sword rather than to her body, then her quick hits and boomerang throws can be parried. When she does the long dash chains, don’t move and wait for the last red-glint hit instead of dodging every swing.
7. Know When to Back Off
The player character has short defensive actions where she diverts light blows. If you notice her stopping and rotating her fighting stick, then it is time to stop your attacks. Inflicting harm in this case leads to the loss of the Silk Ball more often than not. Let her reset her position and then re-engage with your conditions.
Rewards for Defeating Feng Ruzhi
The first time you defeat Feng Ruzhi you get very helpful items which are connected to Heavenfall progression. She is also a world boss and will therefore drop repeatable rewards for you, such as Crimson Silk, Echo Jade, experience points, coins, and custom note chests. All these make her a boss worthy of farming as soon as you get used to the fight.
