The Fire Shot is the first elemental upgrade for Samus’ Arm Cannon. You need it to melt Fire Blockers, burn webbing, and access new parts of Sol Valley.
The process is not as simple as walking into a room and picking up a weapon. You must reach Flare Pool, track down a Fire Chip, and give it to MacKenzie so he can convert it into a working upgrade.
Below is a complete walkthrough using simple, direct language.
How to Get the Fire Shot in Metroid Prime 4 Beyond?
The Fire Shot becomes available to you after you find the Fire Chip in Flare Pool and give it back to MacKenzie at Base Camp in Fury Green.
This is not something you can try until you have finished Fury Green and gotten to the point in Volt Forge where you are given the second Master Teleporter Key. After you have accomplished those initial objectives, the game takes you to Sol Valley, which serves as a hub connecting the other dungeon areas.
1. Go to Flare Pool
When you reach Sol Valley, check your map and point your view southeast. The location of Flare Pool is indicated by a purple Master Teleporter Key icon. Take the Vi-O-La hovercycle and ride it over the desert. MacKenzie will give you the precise instructions when you are near.
The entrance to Flare Pool is located south of Sol Valley under two big stone pillars. When you go through the tunnel, you will arrive at the outer part of the dungeon.
You are unable to finish Flare Pool at this moment, though. Samus is forced to go back when the bridge collapses, and your suit cannot go over the lava that is underneath. The goal now is not the key; it is the Fire Chip that is locked away deep inside the dungeon.
2. How to Get the Fire Chip
As you exit the main Flare Pool chamber, a previously locked door opens and releases several Psy-bots. Defeat them and continue through the door into the Scrapyard. This is where the Fire Chip is stored.
You will see a large crane holding a glowing red tool. Scan it to learn that it is a Lamorn Plasma Torch, the item that contains the Fire Chip data.
To reach it, climb the two stone pillars behind the crane and jump onto the crane’s main platform. Follow the narrow path toward the front of the arm.
When you see metal debris blocking the route, break it with a shot or Morph Ball bomb. At the very tip of the crane, drop a Morph Ball bomb on the exposed mechanism. This dislodges the torch and drops it to the ground.
Go back down and interact with the fallen torch to secure the Fire Chip.
3. Return from MacKenzie in Fury Green
When you get the Fire Chip, a new lava flow will cover the path back to Flare Pool. Get out of the dungeon and go through Sol Valley to Fury Green. MacKenzie will get in touch with you and will show you his precise location on your map.
Go through the main temple and use the Cargo Launcher to go directly to the Base Camp area.
Move to MacKenzie and give him the Fire Chip. After altering it, he returns it to Samus, and she mounts it in her Arm Cannon. The Fire Shot is yours now.
How to Use the Fire Shot in Metroid Prime 4 Beyond?
Select the Fire Shot by hitting Down on the D-pad. The icon of the weapon will be visible in the lower-right corner of the HUD indicating the active shot type.
Use R to shoot. One unit of Shot Ammo is used by each shot. The capacity of the ammo can be expanded by collecting Shot Expansions hidden in the game.
The Fire Shot burns enemies and melts obstacles. It also destroys:
- Fire Blockers
- Burnable webbing and debris
Shooting these once is enough to clear the path.
