The next generation of Xbox might change gaming forever. Reports suggest that Microsoft’s upcoming console could run PlayStation titles like God of War, Spider-Man, and Ghost of Tsushima.
This would be possible because the new Xbox will reportedly work as a console and PC hybrid that supports Steam and Epic Games Store.
Here’s what we know!
Microsoft Xbox Next Gen Console
According to Windows Central, the next Xbox will act more like a gaming PC than a traditional console. You’ll still be able to use the familiar Xbox dashboard, but if you want, you can switch to Windows mode. This will give you access to PC platforms such as Steam, Battle.net, and Riot Launcher.
That means you could play not only Xbox games but also popular PC titles and PlayStation games available on Steam.
Next Xbox May Run PlayStation Games
If these reports are true, games like God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Ghost of Tsushima — all PlayStation exclusives now on PC — could be played on the next Xbox. This move would completely blur the line between the two major gaming platforms.
Xbox president Sarah Bond has also hinted at this direction. She said Microsoft’s goal is to build a gaming platform that stays with you wherever you go, not tied to one device or store.
Microsoft has confirmed a partnership with AMD for its next console. The device will reportedly use a new Magnus APU, combining powerful CPU and GPU performance on one chip. Reports claim it will be about 46% larger than the one planned for PS6, making it one of the most powerful chips ever in a console.
If this console really works like a PC, it won’t come cheap. Early estimates suggest a price between $800 and $1,200. While that’s higher than what the PS6 is expected to cost, it also offers far more flexibility.
