England legend James Anderson Honoured with Knighthood in Windsor Castle Ceremony

James Anderson

The Test cricket legend James Anderson has created numerous records for England on the cricket field with his exceptional fast bowling. People have praised his illustrious Test cricket career not only on the cricket field but also beyond it. Recently, he has received another title for his outstanding cricket career.

Former England fast bowler James Anderson was knighted by Princess Anne for his services to cricket at a ceremony at Windsor Castle on Tuesday. In April, former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak included the legendary bowler in the resignation honours list, granting him this honour.

The 43-year-old bowler has taken 704 wickets in 188 Tests for England. He is the third most successful bowler in Test history, behind Muttiah Muralitharan (800) and Shane Warne (708). He is also the highest wicket-taker for England in ODIs, with 269 wickets in 194 matches.

He retired from international cricket in July 2024, but continued to play for his county, Lancashire, through the 2025 season. He also returned to T20 cricket after a decade-long absence and performed brilliantly, helping his club reach Finals Day at Edgbaston.

He also earned a wildcard contract with Manchester Originals in the Hundred, and managed to take two wickets in three matches for his team, and is in talks to continue his county career into the 2026 season. Anderson also registered for the IPL 2025 mega auction, although no IPL franchise showed interest in buying him.
