After RCB, IPL’s Inaugural Champions Rajasthan Royals seeking new Owners before IPL 2026: Report
The IPL 2026 is still a while away, but new news about it is coming in the market every day. While there were already reports that RCB is up for sale, similar news has now emerged for the Rajasthan Royals. According to reports, Rajasthan Royals is also currently looking for a new owner.
The news broke when Harsh Goenka, who is the elder brother of Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka, wrote about it on x. Harsh posted a tweet on X on Thursday evening, in which he wrote, “I heard that not one, but two IPL teams are up for sale – RCB and RR. It seems clear that people are looking to capitalize on today’s high valuations. So, two teams are selling and four or five potential buyers! Who will be the successful buyers – will they be from Pune, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, or the USA?”
Let us tell you that in 2024, this Jaipur-based franchise will be owned by Royals Sports Group (Emerging Media Sporting Holdings Limited), which has a 65% stake in it. Apart from them, Key minority stakeholders include Lachlan Murdoch and RedBird Capital Partners. However, no official information has been issued by the franchise management regarding the sale of Rajasthan Royals.
Reports also suggest that RR may have to move their home matches out of Jaipur due to issues with the Rajasthan Cricket Association, and Pune could emerge as a potential venue for IPL 2026.
Although earlier there were reports that Royal Challengers Bengaluru might have to shift their home ground from Chinnaswamy Stadium to Pune, but after this, similar news came about Rajasthan regarding the venue. Moreover, discussions about the RCB for sale continued for a few months and finally on November 5, global beverage company Diageo confirmed that it had begun the process of selling the team.
