How to Start the Quest for the Vernal Umbrella in Where Winds Meet?
You need to head to the area around the Time Tower in Kaifeng. You cannot enter the Pavilion right away, so your first task is to speak with the NPCs connected to the quest.
1. Speak to Wang Ping’an
You will find Wang Ping’an in a small hut at the base of the Time Tower. Talk to him to begin the chain. He directs you toward the Pavilion and hints that you need a keepsake to enter.
2. Meet Jiang Ting’er
Climb up to the Pavilion and speak with Jiang Ting’er. She will stop you at the door and ask for a keepsake from the Temporal Pavilion. To get it, you must solve several clues scattered around the area.
How to Solve the Clues for the Keepsake?
You need to gather clues by observing people and objects around the Pavilion. Once you collect all of them, the game will automatically combine the hints and send you to the keepsake’s location.
Step 1: Visit the Tabby Cat
Head behind the Pavilion to find a tabby cat. Interacting with it completes one of the clues.
Step 2: Eavesdrop on Conversations
You need to listen to several groups of NPCs:
- Look through a crossed window near the river to observe two people playing chess.
- Go to the back rooms of the Pavilion and listen to two women talking.
- Exit the Pavilion, climb onto the house where Wang Ping’an lives, and jump to the second floor. Another pair of women is talking here—listen to them as well.
These conversations give you all the remaining clues needed to progress.
Step 3: Complete the Puzzle
After you gather everything, the game connects your clues automatically. This reveals that the keepsake is inside the second-floor treasury. You will be teleported there immediately.
How to Get the Bramble Rose Hairpin in Where Winds Meet?
Inside the treasury area:
1. Use Wildsense to Get the Warehouse Key
Activate Wildsense and take the key from the NPC nearby. This key opens the warehouse.
2. Take the Bramble Rose Hairpin
Enter the warehouse and pick up the hairpin. This item is the keepsake that Jiang Ting’er asked for.
3. Give the Hairpin to Jiang Ting’er
Return to her at the Pavilion entrance. Once she sees the hairpin, she will allow you inside.
How to Unlock the Vernal Umbrella inb Where Winds Meet?
Inside the now-accessible area, you will meet Hua Ziching, also known as the Flower Messenger. Instead of receiving a reward directly, you must take the weapon in your own way.
1. Use Skill Theft on Hua Ziching
Approach Hua Ziching and use the Steal Skill ability. This gives you the Vernal Umbrella Martial Art immediately.
2. Finish by Returning to Wang Ping’an
Go back to the NPC at the base of the tower to close the questline. You now have full access to the Vernal Umbrella.
Once you unlock the Vernal Umbrella, you gain a weapon that lets you fight safely from a distance while staying highly mobile. You can shoot projectiles that lift enemies into the air and keep them from attacking you.
