Meridian Touch is one of the earliest Mystic Arts you can learn in Where Winds Meet, and it’s also one of the most useful. The skill works both inside and outside of combat, and it gives you a reliable way to shut down enemies who rely on Qi. You also need it for certain puzzles, locked paths, and even some stealth situations later in the story.

How to Unlock Meridian Touch?
1. Travel to Stonewash Strand in Qinghe
Meridian Touch is an ability that can be acquired earlier game. When at Stonewash Strand you should begin looking for an are with lots of strange stone statues. They should be a cluster of path ed stone carvings.
If you have already activated the Boundary Stone of Stonewash Strand you can fast travel to it to make the search much easier.
2. Find Yan Qiren, the Man Turned to Stone
In the middle of the stone statues you can find Yan Qiren. He is an NPC that looks as If he is stone as he looks like he is one of the statues.
You should talk to him until he is done with all of his speech. He is confused at first but after finishing all of his dialogues, he will be willing to teach his special chi art to you.
3. Use Meridian Touch to Unlock His Acupoint
You can now go to Yan Qiren and use the meridian touch to activate his acupoints. After this, you can finish the side case by continuing the previous speaking with him. After the short talk, Yan Qiren’s special art will be available for you permanently.
Yan Qiren reappears at the same place every in-game day in a new pose. You can use Meridian Touch on him again for small repeatable rewards.
What Meridian Touch Does in Where Winds Meet?
Meridian Touch is based on striking precise acupoints to interrupt Qi flow. It has different effects depending on whether you use it in or out of combat.
Out of Combat Effects
When you target an NPC, you’ll see several acupoints you can choose from. Each point has a different outcome:
- Yangbai Point (Fleetfoot): Can immobilize the target for a moment.
- Xiaohu Point (Clarity): Makes the target burst into uncontrollable laughter.
- Quchi Point (Unfettered Flow): Causes them to itch wildly, leaving them unable to act.
These effects are useful for solving puzzles, opening hidden paths, or dealing with NPCs blocking your way.
In Combat Effects
In battle, the skill becomes a tool for controlling tough enemies:
- Has a chance to immobilize regular foes, giving you an opening.
- Deals Physical damage based on your attack.
- Breaks Vital Points, which shuts down Qi regeneration.
- After a successful break, the enemy becomes vulnerable to follow-up damage.
Against stronger enemies, the immobilization won’t work, but the Vital Point break still provides a big advantage.
Breakthrough
Tier Bonuses
When you upgrade Meridian Touch, you unlock special bonuses at each Tier:
Tier 2
Extra 20% bonus damage when you break a weak point.
Tier 3
Targets take 20% more Qi damage for 10 seconds after a weak point break.
Tier 4
Weak point burst damage increases by another 30%, letting you punish Qi-dependent enemies much harder.
These upgrades make the skill scale well, especially if your build focuses on breaking enemy defenses and controlling fights.
Like other Mystic Arts, you increase its Rank with Ebon Iron of various levels, and promote its Tier using Beauty’s Plume. Each Tier uses higher-level Ebon Iron and more materials, so expect to gather resources steadily as you progress.
As you progress through the main story and side quests, you will notice that some activities expect you to have Meridian Touch. That is why learning it early makes the rest of the game smoother and gives you more options in every situation.
