Saving Quent during the Unpaid Tab mission in Borderlands 4 can be stressful the first time you face it. The fight ends with a strict timer, several moving parts, and almost no in-game explanation. If you don’t act fast, Quent dies inside the Ripper-making machine.

How to Destroy the Jamming Device in Borderlands 4?
Upon getting to the DAHL Machine in the mission, the first thing to do is disable the jamming signal. Even though the game tells you to ‘hack’ this one, the real answer requires you to do a bit of walking and perform a Ground Slam.
Step 1: Pull the Vent Panel
Proceed to the machine and pull the vent cover off using your grappling hook. This will complete the internal panel exposure ‘hack’ and ‘cover’ the first part of this game step.
Step 2: Reach the Platform Above the Machine
Move around the southern wall to the back of the machine. You will see a grapple point there, which is just below a suspended platform. Use your grapple to reach and step onto the small platform.
Step 3: Perform a Ground Slam on the Marked Spot
On the machine’s roof, you will see the emblem of a homage, the circular pattern. To trigger a Ground Slam, jump and press Ctrl / B / Circle (depending on your console,) then drop.
Make sure to land on the circle to shut down the jamming device. Once you perform the slam, you will know you have completed this step.
How to Save Quent in Unpaid Tab in Borderlands 4?
After defeating Driller Hole, the game gives you 60 seconds to rescue Quent before the machine kills him. The timer is strict, so you must move fast.
Step 1: Pull All Five Levers
Look up around the circular platform where Quent is trapped. You will see five grapple-hook levers positioned around the machine. Use your grapple on each lever to pull it down. Keep rotating around the platform until all five are activated.
Step 2: Destroy the Three Pipes
Three large pipes connect to the machine. They are easy to spot because of their size and color. Shoot all three pipes until they break. Once every lever is pulled and every pipe is destroyed, the machine shuts down and Quent is freed.
If the timer runs out, Quent dies. here are no extra mission rewards for saving him, but letting him die changes the dialogue and makes the moment much heavier for Zane. Saving Quent is the better moral choice and prevents an unnecessary loss during the story.
