In Nioh 3, the key to leveling is Amrita. With every upgrade you make to skills/stats, weapon scaling and survivability depends on your ability to collect Amrita quickly. There are areas to explore in the game that have suggested level caps, and should you fall behind even a little, the enemies will swiftly remove Ki from your bar.
One interesting thing about this game is that there are plenty of ways to stay ahead of this level-op game through quiet means by finding the correct loop, right enemies and turning all your non-usable items into XP.
The Fastest Early Game Farming Route
Once you have progressed beyond the tutorial phase of the game, you can begin making regular progress through farming on a reliable basis. The location of your first reliable farming spot will be in the Tokaido area at the Tokaido Ikeda ferry shrine (Iksi) used to reset your character/level
- After resetting at the shrine, head due west to the closest enemy pack.
- Once you reach the enemy pack, crouch down and move behind the first enemy and perform a backstab on them.
- Then, stand behind the larger enemy and chain kill the enemies that you have just killed in front of you.
- After you have killed all of the smaller enemies, take their loot.
- After collecting the loot, return to the shrine and pray at the shrine to reset.
Once you have mastered the first run, each run will take you approximately 1 minute to complete. The fastest style of play is using a fast weapon and performing Ninja kills because your movement speed and stealth damage will make the runs shorter. Good execution during these runs can result in approximately 50 to 70,000 Amrita earned every hour after offering any loot obtained from these runs.
Choose the Yoki that respawns just before the boss room at the shrine after defeating “Escape from Hitokoto Slope” as your first mini-farm. When you attack him, break the horn and he starts to bleed Amrita from every hit. As a result, instead of a typical kill, you will have a significantly larger payout and will be able to level through multiple levels prior to additional challenges.
The respawning Ippon Datara at the Hamamatsu Castle Town will also allow you to add to this mini-farm. The Ippon Datara will also yield a little more than 1000 Amrita per kill and is very close to a shrine to repeat indefinitely.
The rules are simple: find a hard enemy close enough to a shrine to kill, reset and kill again.
Ready your blades! #Nioh3 pushes intense combat in an Action RPG to its peak. Only the fearless survive and become shogun.

World Activities That Give Massive XP
Grinding enemies works, but Nioh 3 actually rewards exploration more than most Soulslikes. If you only replay the same fight, you will level slower than someone who clears the map intelligently.
Start doing Myths. Myths are side-quests that have to do with NPCs or wandering spirits. Many players tend to ignore these but they do provide good amounts of Amrita and gear at low-risk levels. Some of these will just require you to go to a hot spring or retrieve some type of object.
Enemy Bases or Crucible Areas provide great rewards too. Both of these provide you with several enemies in one area; therefore, if you take a stealth approach you can eliminate several enemies before actually fighting them. By clearing out the base or crucible entrance and getting your loot, you will be earning much more Amrita than you would if you just solely farmed single or double enemies.
You will notice the map icons denote where locations of Amrita stashes are located. Amrita stashes regenerate and if you are on your way to your next area, they can take only a couple of seconds to get to. As you gain more experience exploring, you will increase your exploration level, as well as improve your base stats and will collect more collectibles. One of the benefits of increasing your experience is that you can gain levels simply by travelling around.
Lastly, hunt down any Formidable Enemies that you encounter. Although they deal significant damage, they also provide great rewards. One defeated Formidable Enemy will give you the amount of Amrita that you would typically receive through farming multiple enemies.
Turn Every Item Into Free Levels
Much of your experience points (XP) in Nioh 3, come from menu items rather than combat.
You can drop off gear that you no longer need at every shrine via the Make Offering option rather than ignore those items. Blue and Purple equipment will provide you with tens of thousands of Amrita after running a dungeon.
Many players however do not realise that Weapon Familiarity will increase the amount of Amrita you get for offering your weapon as well. If you are running dungeons, do not use your best weapon and instead level up a secondary weapon until it is max weapon familiarity before making an offering to convert practice swings into level.
The Vital Spirit ability located above Prospect Hill on the Warring States map will boost your Amrita earned by 4%, and should always be equipped when running dungeons.
To further streamline offerings, you can set the auto dispose settings so that the offering process is quick and simple.
In summary:
- Kill Enemies
- Loot Everything
- Make Offerings
- Repeat
By combining shrine loops, world activities and converting to items, your level progression will no longer appear grindy and become almost automatic. With a steady stream of Amrita, you will always be above recommended levels every time you enter a new area, and will not find yourself merely trying to survive in a new area.
