Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update 1.1.4 Gameplay Updates
1. Corrupted Castles
A new feature called Corrupted Castles has been added. This activity lets you revisit and reclaim castles that have become “corrupted” by Animus anomalies.
These castles now have stronger enemies like Corrupted Samurai Daisho who patrol with more aggression and new attack patterns.
You can clear these castles to unlock chests that give gear and gold. The activity becomes available once you reach level 30 and have completed at least three castles. Up to five corrupted castles will appear on your map each season.
2. Advanced Parkour Feature
Ubisoft has added an Advanced Parkour option for players who enjoy more control and freedom in movement. You can turn it on in the gameplay menu. When enabled, it removes parkour restrictions, allowing you to perform side and back ejects from any height.
3. General Parkour Improvements
Even without the advanced option, parkour now feels better overall.
- Vertical ledge grabs now work on more objects like beams and lanterns.
- Manual jumps from non-standing objects help you take creative shortcuts.
- Directional catch ledge returns, letting you grab a ledge while falling by pressing the Parkour Up button.
4. New Gold Weapons
This update also introduces new gold weapons that you can earn by completing specific challenges.
- Tanto: Complete all Legendary Sumi-e
- Bow: Complete all Horse Archery
- Kusarigama: Complete all Meditation
- Naginata: Complete all Kata
- Kanabo: Reach Level 100
- Teppo: Reach Hideout Level 13
Gold weapons from previous updates, such as the Gold Katana and Long Katana, remain locked to New Game+.
5. More Anomalies and Adjustments
The number of weekly Anomalies has increased, allowing faster project progress. However, Ubisoft has reduced the number of Keys in the Infinite Reward tier from 400 to 100 to maintain balance.
A new Anomaly linked to the Corrupted Castles will now appear in every weekly rotation. Completing it rewards Data Fragments.
Bug Fixes and Stability
This patch includes a long list of bug fixes and improvements:
1. General Fixes
The Sakura Fox mount now makes the right sound, and the Olive Black Cat pet shows up even if you do not own the DLC.
You will now earn double XP from Animus Anomalies, and gold prices at the Itinerant Vendor are cut in half. Ubisoft has also fixed several dialogue and mission trigger issues that caused quests to stop or repeat.
2. Gameplay Fixes
Missing keys and upgrade items now appear correctly in your inventory. NPC allies no longer vanish or say strange lines, and duplicate legendary items no longer drop.
When you demolish a hideout building, you will now get all your upgrade costs back. Problems with perks and weapon upgrades have also been fixed
3. Visual and Graphics Fixes
Floating objects like trees, stairs, and platforms are gone. Lighting and shadows now look normal across all areas. Character animations are smoother, and Naoe’s flips now appear correctly. Armor and weapon visuals also look better when enhanced at the forge.
4. Localization and Photo Mode
German text errors have been corrected, and Photo Mode now freezes clothing properly. The Ink Filter now shows blood and colors the way it should.
5. Quest Fixes
You will no longer get stuck during quests, and missing rewards have been restored. NPCs now behave as expected.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update 1.1.4 is a major improvement to the game. The Corrupted Castles bring new reasons to revisit the open world, while Advanced Parkour gives you more control and creativity.
